Re: cormier family in maine
Hello,
My great grandmother was a Cormier and in my search for that family I came across this site with records from Old Town. Have you seen this site: Necrology of St. Joseph's OLD TOWN, MAINE? http://danaraepelletier.tripod.com/OldtownStJosephsA-C.html
There are Cormiers in here along with a Emily Fournier listed with Victor Cormier. I have my Cormier family line back to Robert Cormier, who came to Port Royal, Acadia; in the ship LePetit Saint Pierre on 8 Jan 1644, from LaRochelle, France. He came over with his wife and son Thomas to build ships. "Listed as one of the 830 recruits from LaRochelle (Source: Passenger and Immigration List Index 1538-1940) committed to work in New France (Canada) in return for their fare to the Northern American Continent." Page 221-233/374-407. Most of the Cormiers around New England relate back to him. I have the line on my Family Tree Program if you are interested. You can email me at msjudith45@peoplepc.com
