My Cormier side comes from Amherst, NS, Canada - everyone in my grandfather's family has passed away due to cancer. He was almost 85 when he died two years ago, his half-brother (the only surviving member of that side of the family) was also just diagnosed with cancer. Cancer is actually quite rampant in Nova Scotia - it seems almost every other day we hear of someone else we know that has cancer. I'm not sure if it is prevalent in our family because of genetics, or simply because we live in NS and there is something in the water/air/food here but it is certainly worrying.
