can anyone solve this mystery ?
i've been tracing my aunts copeland tree for a while now and having got back to george copeland c1870 kirkby who marries twice ( ada ward / emma jane weightman ) and finding his father to be a george bonner copeland c1829 at least 11 children some with rollinson as middle name,leading me to his father being george bonner james copeland c1799 who married ann rollinson c1802 who have several children either with just bonner as surname or bonner-copeland , copeland-bonner surname , yet in 1841 census whole family including g.b.j.copeland appear as just bonner ? given that his father appears to be thomas copeland c1764 who marries elizabeth spencer just where does the bonner connection originate from ? any reason for dropping the copeland surname in 1841 census ? only to drop the bonner name in later years , if anyone has any ideas or info please reply thanks
