CHAMPION – Ray Cook, 83, entered peacefully into rest on Saturday, May 16, 2015, at 8 p.m., at his son’s residence, following a brief illness.
Ray was born the son of the late Fred and Mabel (Allen) Cook on Nov. 22, 1931, in Beauty, Kentucky and was an area resident since 1970, formerly of Columbus, Ohio.

He was a graduate of Beauty High School in Beauty, and was employed with the General Motors Corporation as a tool and die maker for 27 years, retiring from his duties in 1997.

Ray was active in the Howland SCOPE, where he met his companion and enjoyed dancing and traveling together.
Ray especially enjoyed line dancing, ballroom dancing and square dancing. He also faithfully served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict.
On June 8, 1954, Ray was united into marriage with the former Jean Ousley and they had shared 61 years together. His memories will be remembered and celebrated by those he leaves behind, a son, Bobby Ray (Cindy) Cook of Garrettsville, Ohio; daughters Connie Jean Cassidy of Liberty, Judy Carol (Steven) Bitecofer of Palm Coast, Fla., and Linda Sue Karcher of Champion; and grandchildren Adrienna Celeste McDermott and Chelsea Rae Cook.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; and two brothers. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, May 20, 2015, at the Staton-Borowski Funeral Home, 962 North Road NE, Warren, Ohio where the family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Champion Township Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Staton-Borowski Funeral Home, 962 North Road, NE, Warren.
