TROUPSBURG -- Stanley H. H. Converse, 74, of 3689 Old State Road, died Saturday (Oct 31, 1992) at Corning Hospital.
Born Jun 9 1918, in Rochester, he was a son of Earl W. and Katherine Roenig Converse. He was married on Jan 6, 1942, to the former Doris J. Boulio, who Survives.
He attended Bullskin Township Public Schools at Mount Pleasant, Pa.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving in World War II.
He was a member of the Troupsburg Fire Department.
He was a retired truck driver, formerly employed by Empire State Wineries and Denver Southwest. He operated Stan’s Lawn Mower Shop in Troupsburg.
In addition to his wife Doris J. (Boulio) Converse; survivors include three sons, Victor E. Converse of Canisteo, Stanley L. Converse of Troupsburg, and Nathan E. Converse of Waukonus, Okla.; two daughters, Catherine Osberg of Upland, Calif., and Carolyn R. Kephart of Machias, Maine; a half-brother, Victor E. Haney of Denver, Colo., two half-sisters, Marie Summers of Buena Park, Calif., and Ruther Queer of Homestead, Pa.; Seven grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the H. P. Smith & Son Inc. Funeral Home in Woodhull, where a service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday with the Rev. Gerald Wagner officiating.
Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Troupsburg.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Troupsburg Fire Department and Ambulance Corps.
