Howard C. Conrady

Hello,
My great grandmother was Elizabeth Conrady, born in Germany. Her brother's name was Howard C. Conrady. He was born about 1836 (don't know the town). He emigrated to the U.S. and was a decorated civil war Union soldier (Lt. Col.). He later became a prominent New York attorney. He died about 1916. As I am always researching family history, I would like to know if anyone else on this post is related to the same Conrady family. Thank you.

Steven & Maria Conrady

Looking for info on Etienne/Steven Conrady, born about 1819, came to US in 1855 with wife Maria and 3 daughters: Maria/Mary, Josephine and Susan. Some records indicate they were from Luxembourg, others indicate Germany. Etienne is a French name. Landed in New Orleans, were in Indian Territory, Arkansas in 1860 without the mother and Josephine. Were in Benton County, MO by 1868 when Mary married a Schwald. Susan is my great grandmother and she married a Fowler. On one of the census records in Benton County, a Henry Conrady was living with Steven. I'm trying to find where Steven and Maria were born and lived before they came to the US. I have hit a brick wall. The earliest record I have for them is the ship's log. Also, want to find Maria's maiden name, other relatives, parents, etc. If you can help, please contact me. Thanks!

Hello again,
I would love for you to send me some photos. My grandfather, Robert Anton, had some pictures but they were mostly lost in a fire years ago--so we have only a few. Mostly of Robert and Katherines kids. Chris Eulberg sent my a photo of Karl Joseph and Mary Ann. I have never seen them before. I e-mailed it to some of my other famiy members who are older than I and they had never seen them either. Thank you all so much for sharing your photos. My brother has the log from the ship that they came over on from Germany. He has a picture also. I'll try to get it from him and send you a copy.
Thanks, Lori Conrady-Stevens
Edmond, Oklahoma

I am also searching for information on Karl Joseph and Mary Ann Luvika Conrady. We pretty much have the USA side of things, but we are unable to locate any German family history. Although, I am missing data from their arrival in 1885 until the 1900 census.

If you find any German family information, please let me know.

I have been told that Mary Ann Ludvika Threne lost her royal status upon marriage to the "commoner" Karl Joseph Conrady.

Mary Ann and Karl were my great, great grandparents.

Mary Ann and Karl
Rosa + George Ciskowski
Elma + Ben Feist
Rita + James Roller

Thank you.
Steel/e Conrady in Jefferson/Oldham Cos, KY 1820-1830s

I have two sisters, Elizabeth and Frances Jane Steel/e, born in Kentucky about 1813 and 1820. Both married Shake brothers, and the Shakes lived in Oldham, County. According to the story passed down, the Steel/e father died and his widow married a man named Withers, by whom she had two sons before she died. Withers then sold the farm/plantation, pocketed the money and moved on with his two sons, leaving the Steel/e girls to fend for themselves. They moved in with an "Aunt Coonrody" (could be Conrad etc) and her husband, three children, and two old maids. The Steel/e girls came down with typhoid, while the man and the three children contracted cholera and died. The shock killed the "aunt", leaving the two girls and the two old maids--and five corpses in the house at one time. The girls married in the 1830s.

If any of you know anything that might help in identifying the family to which these girls belonged I will greatly appreciate hearing from you.

My great grandmother Dorothea Zugschwerdt Friederich, wife of Conrad Friederich was a sister to Christina Zugschwerdt, daughter of Heinrich Zugschwerdt. Heinrich immigrated to Fairhaven Township in Carroll County, Illinois in the late 1840's. Would like to exchange information on descendants of the Zugschwerdts. Also would like to know if anybody knows what happened to Conrad Zugschwerdt, who left for California/Oregon in 1852 and never came back to Illinois.

From what I have been able to find out, Kreuzeber is really Kreuzebra located in the district of Eisenfeld. This was mentioned in the WIWOOD-L Archives and can be accessed at http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/read/WIWOOD/2001-10/10036801.... The J. Ruemenapp mentioned would be brother to Martin.

I found your message board and would like to know, wether your family has a coat of arms.
I found out that Conrady also Conradty have the following coat of arms (this is also our old family coat of arms)with the following specification:
on a golden blazon there is a leftgoing lion with up raised paws ready to fight. On the helmet there is a naked man with a shouldered club.
To my knowledge Conradty is an old knight family who received this coat of arms in the year 1506 in Spain and later went to the Netherlands where the family split up again.

If you have any knowledge about your family history, I would be thankful to hear from you.

Claudio Conradty Germany
