As I have been able to tell you on the phone today, Dr. Thomas Connick was born in February 1814 and it is confirmed that he had a sister by the name of Catherine and a brother by the name of Dennis but it is also confirmed that he had a brother by the name of John and two other sisters by the name of Bridget and Margret as per the Adamstown RC parish records.

My apologies for not replying earlier, but my family research has been on hold for some time & only today have I seen your message. I do have all the information supplied, but I thank you for it.
The brick wall I have come up against is trying to find out anything about Philip Connick before he left Ireland & his parents names. I can help you with John MacCormack, although you may already have the information. John was born James Connick in Sydney in 1835 - the son of Philip Connick & Susannah Jackson. His name change appears when he married Mary Anne Elizabeth Beazley 16th July, 1860 at St. Mary's Cathederal, Sydney. John MacCormack was my great great grandfather. Thanks again. Kind regards.

Dear Rosemary,

I too am descended from Connicks who came from County Wexford in Ireland. I was wondering what LDS is and how i can access some of these records. My ancestors came around the time of the Potato Famine and U.S. Civil War and several of them settled in the NYC area.

Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.

I realise this message is quite old, however whilst trying to sort our some research for a John Macormack in Australia, came across Philip Connick as a convict. He arrived in Sydney onboard Convict Ship Boyne 28 October 1826. Says he was convicted in Wexford in March 1826 for Housebreaking. Age 19 years. There is also a marriage record on New South Wales BDm with Susan Jackson V183417 129/1834 Connick Philip : Jackson, Susan: LD (St Mary's Church Sydney). Newspaper Article Sydney Herald 8 April 1834 Pg 4 says he received a Certificate of Freedom. Hope this helps. Kind regards.

I am looking for information on Martin Connick born about 1817-1821 on Prince Edward Island Canada. He married Catherine Doyle and lived in Nelson New Brunswick. It appears no one knows of his direct parentage. I had come across a newspaper entry a number of years ago that a Martin Connick had left the Island as a result of a fight. I did not save it at the time as I didn't know he was mine. I have now found a reference to a court case for October 10 1838 in which a Martin Connick and a John Connick that a "true bill"was found against these parties for an assault on James Barrett, Bench Warrent Issued. This tells me there was a John Connick as a relative and there was a newspaper article somewhere. I am hoping this entry will gather a response. I know Martin returned to PEI during the 1850's as he had a couple of children born there. I also think Martin and Catherine had two sons that maybe died while there with scarlett fever. They came back to New Brunswick in time for the 1861 census minus William and Martin whom I can find no trace off. Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.

My wife's grandfather was William Connick. He was born in Bridgetown just outside Wexford in 1898, mother Catherine, known as Kate (no father listed). We went over to Ireland looking for records a few years ago and were very successful at Mulrankin RC church where the parish priest was brilliant. There were two distict threads of the Connick family which he was able to unravel with ease and although we did not get back further than Catherine, we did find many Connick ancestors in the local graveyards. The only remaining Connick in our line that we could find was a Sonny Connick in Bridgetown but he was a private man and was not willing to talk about the family. Apparently, a boy is referred to as Sonny if he is given the same forename as his father. Hope this is of interest. Mike Thornton

Nora, I had mixed results from the Yola facility. The first inquiry produced what appeared to be useful results. My second inquiry was not productive at all and they did not follow up on my requests for why I had not heard from them. I did not feel they gave me my money's worth. This experience made me wonder about the authenticity of the first records I received.

Researching my greatgrandmother, Ann Connick born 1848 in Dowlais, Glamorgan, Wales, married to Rees Jones abt 1867. Moved to the north-east of England, Stockton on Tees, mid 1870s. Their son Rees was my grandfather.

Well, I don't really have any information on Samuel yet. I think he is somehow connected to my Frederick Connick, but I'm not sure how. I did just find a cemetery listing for Mary and Samuel. Samuel died 19 June 1896 @ age 77 and Mary died Mar 1891. They are buried in Hewitt Cemetery in Red Oak. I got that off the IA Genweb.
Frederick Connick married Sarah Warren in about 1876. At least two of their children were born in Red Oak. The children I know about are Oscar, Winnie (my great grandmother), Rolly, and Ransome. Does any of this connect with you? I believe that Samuel and Frederick are somehow related, because on the 1885 Iowa State Census Samuel and Mary Connick as well as Charles and Della (not sure) Connick are listed on the same page as Daniel and Fidelia Horn. I know that Fidelia Horn is the sister of my Frederick Connick. I know that's pretty confusing so write me if you want clarification.

I am interested in finding out more about the ancestors or siblings of Dr Owen Thomas Connick, born in 1818 in Kilbraney, Co Wexford, Ireland, who for some unknown reason settled in Perce, Quebec, to practice medicine some time between about 1836 and 1843. He is probably related to Connicks in Newfoundland and PEI, but the connecting links are buried still back in Ireland. Any ideas or tips gladly received.

I can give you more information about Charles LeBourdais. He was born on July 19, 1850 in L'Islet, Quebec, child #7 of 14 children of parents Jean-Baptiste Augustin (b. 1814) and Appoline Bernier (b. 1823). Charles did go to Michigan and you may be right about the date being 1874. There doesn't seem to be much information around about Sarah Ballor, spellings of both of her names also differ. Charles and Sarah had 7 children. Are you related to one of them?

Thanks for the info!! I had David's info but not Orrilla's. While I have suspected that Orrilla Lidell was David's wife, I haven't seen anything that substantiated this (only that David's son was Dwight Liddell McConick and Dwight named his daughter Orrilla!).

If you want to correspond re: John & Abigail, I have some information (sometimes contradictory) on John's lineage. Abigail's is fairly well documented. John's father James Conick (or McConick) was captured after the battle of Bunker Hill. It APPEARS that he was married to a Betsey as well as an Elizabeth - in some places, they assume these are the same women. Also, I have copies of John's Revolutionary War pension file. I noted that your post was a few years old, but I just saw it for the first time. In case you are stilling looking for information I thought I would pass this on.
John and Abigail are in my line through their daughter Polly (aka Mary). A few years ago I stopped at the Schuyler Lake Cemetery in Exeter to view the headstones of John & Abigail. I did make some notes of other related headstones near theirs. There was a row of nine of them together. Three that might be of interest to you are:

"David McConnick [he appeared to use the Mc], Died April 29, 1845, AE 51 y'rs. We feel no mourn, though he is gone To join the holy happy throng We hope in Christ to meet again. Beyond all earthly care and pain."

To his left is:

"Ordilla Lidell, wife of Benjamin Morehouse, formerly wife of David McConick, Died Dec 27, 1858, aged 55 y'rs 4 mo. & 8 da's."

To his right is:

"In memory of Mrs. Sally, wife of David Conick [no Mc here] who died June 28, 1825 aged 30 years 6 months & 17 days. Go where to love and enjoy are one, and till I share your joy forgive my grief of love sincere oh this last pledge receive a s.....[the rest is buried and unreadable].

I just found out Sarah and her husband had the following children: Harris D., Edward G., Walter, and Pauline. I found a name I wondered if you knew anything about: Thomas DeHaven Connick. His mother's maiden name was listed as Hine. He was born between 1945-1950 (to not disclose too much), in Humboldt County. I can't help but think he is a descedent of Sarah's. I believe that you James Connick is listed under the decendants of John Connick (1770) at http://pages.prodigy.net/tconnick/johncon.htm.
Also, I have a couple of pages of Connick names dated 7/31/1940. Under "Children of James Connick" there is a Martin Connick of Plattsburgh, NY. I have the pages as JGP files and would be happy to send them to you.
