My grandmother was Mary Anna Margaret Conn of the Conns who went to Texas. I'm doing a genealogy/biography project about my family in narrative form, and I have become almost obsessed with finding out the exact date and cause of the death of Elizabeth Conn, Rev. Hugh Conn's first wife, and their daughter. The book "Old Baltimore" says "tradition has persisted" that they died within sight of home on Feb. 22, 1717, while returning from a trip to England, implying some kind of accident. Meteorological records show that date was in the midst of an enormous snowstorm on the east coast, one of a series of storms that has not been matched since this last winter, 2014-15. I have to think that implies a shipwreck (but I haven't found any record of one near Baltimore at that time), or maybe drowning while trying to transfer from ship to shore in a small boat, or simply freezing to death trying to get home. Does anyone have any better knowledge or sources on this subject?
