I am searching for information on the Conacher family on behalf of my friend, James Conacher of Canada.

His father was Robert Hugh Kennedy Conacher, born 1900 in Scotland, died 1954 in Canada. James was the father to Robert.

What is the relationship between Robert Hugh Kennedy Conacher born in 1900 and Robert Hugh Kennedy Conacher, born in 1869?

Robert, wife and James emigrated to Canada in the late 1920's. James is an only child and do not know much about his geneology. I am hoping to find some information from Gavin Conacher, Jane Lynch or William Conacher.

Robert Hugh Kennedy Conacher (born May 22 1869) married Margaret Janet Lawson (born Sept 6 1870) August 17, 1894 and they had 6 children: Jessie Isabella 1896, Grace Kennedy 1898, Georgina Donaldson Lawson 1900, John Alexander 1904, and twins Helen Douglas Kennedy and James 1908. I am a granddaughter of Jessie. Robert and Margaret moved to Saskatchewan Canada and all of their children grew up and married here. This Robert had a sister (I believe) named Helen Douglas Conacher

Irene: Thank you for your reply re Robert Conacher.

Your Robert is indeed the ancester I am looking for. James (born 1921) and wife Bonnie (born 1923) are living in a nursing home in the Vancouver area. I will print your reply for them. They will find this interesting.

From your post, you and Jim (born 1920) are first counsins, once removed - i.e. Jim's father Robert and your grandmother Ellen are brother and sister.

Irene: If you query Jim Conacher, NHL, images, quite a few pictures of Jim (in the 1940's) will show up. There is one of both Jim and Bonnie as well.

I have a few current pictures but I am not willing to put these on the internet.

Jim and my spouse Ray met at their golf club 30 years ago; their friendship continued after leaving the club.

Ray talks to Jim via telephone 2 or 3 times a week and will read your latest posts to him. He has an amazing memory for 90 years and I am sure he will remember you and your sister.
