Am looking for decendants of these comps. Daniel Comp was born in Pennsylvania and married Margaret Jane Drumberger (?) on spelling. Their children were 1.Jacob 2. Levina (?)spelling 3. Cynthia Jane 4. Hettie Ellen 5. Sarah Flora 6. Joshua and 7. Charley. The children were all born in Iowa except Jacob was born some where in Illinois. Daniel and Margaret are buried in Iowa. Am looking for Daniel and Margaret's parents, where they were born in Pennsylvania and whom Levina married. Thank you for any information anyone has.

I could only guess at birthdates at this time as the census records do not match age wise on all the children. Are you from this family?

It's helpful to others if you post dates and places with your queries. I'm not from this Comp family, but I'm interested in where this Daniel might be from in PA. My Comp line was from Cumberland/Perry Co. I did some looking on my own and did find Daniel & family in Linn Co. Iowa in the 1860, 1870 and 1880 census. I sure haven't been able to locate him in PA in 1850 though and I'm sure you didn't find him either.

Do you know if the William M. Drumbarger and wife Mary Middleton, who also settled in Linn Co. IA was related to Margaret Jane? It's such an unusual name that I think he must be a relative. I found out how difficult it is to find anything on Drumbarger/Drumberger in PA. Did you know there is a William Drumbarger who during the Civil War was in Company G, 202nd Pennsylvania Infantry? I'm wondering if this could be the same William who came to Linn Co. IA. I have a little more on when he enlisted and where the regiment was organized, if you don't have it.

I think I have a breakthrough on the Drumbarger/Drumberger name and where they were in PA. I believe William & Margaret Jane were brother and sister, children of Abraham Droneberger of Perry Co. PA. Everything fits as to them living in Toboyne township in Perry Co. That is in the far eastern corner of Perry, bordering Juniata on the north, and Franklin Co. on the west. William Drumbarger of Linn Co. IA married Mary Ann Middleton 1858, in East Waterford, Juniata Co., just a few miles from where Abraham and family were living.

It's really something how the surname kept changing. On the 1880 Perry Co. PA census, the George above is listed as Draneberrier.

There are some Dronebergers in the Maryland records.

Now if I could just figure out where your Daniel Comp fits in the Perry Co. Comps. They have been so hard to sort out!!

Is the DRUMBARGER family line you are researching buried in Wilcox Cemetery, Jones County, Iowa ?? Many buried there are from Linn County. It's just a few miles from the County line near Viola, Iowa.

There is a Eva Drumbarger Cook also buried there that maybe related to a Cook family from this area.

I just looked on the Jones County GenWeb site and some of the marriage records show William Drumbarger and Mary Ann Middleton as parents. Hope this helps !!

How do you know that Droneberger is the correct surname? I found so many names on the soundex when I was researching that I was afraid to try to match any of them, because I thought I would connect the wrong lines together. Do you have a census or some other record that actually says that William Drumbarger born 1835/6 was the son of Abraham Droneberger?

I am really interested to see your source, because I have been unable to go any further than William Drumbarger born in Pennsylvania whose parents were also born in Pennsylvania, but was unable to get any records on them.

Anything that you could share with me would be greatly appreciated.
