My great, great, great grandfather, John Gough Waller's eldest daughter by his second marriage, Blanche de Warrenne Waller married a Phillip Penrose Commins in Sydney, Australia on 21-Feb-1900. The Waller's emigrated from their estates in Upper Tipperary to Canada, the US, and Australia in the 1840s. Perhaps there is a connection?

Donnacha,
I don't know if Phillip Penrose Commins had a Tipperary address. I have been unable to find a record of his birth in Australia in the period 1855 to 1890, nor have I been able to find a record of his death in Australia between 1900 and 1941. His bride Blanche de Warrenne Waller died in Gisborne, New Zealand in 1941 as Blanche de Warrenne McDonald. That suggests she re-married.
As I uncover more information I'll post it.
Steve

I'm still struggling for information on Phillip Penrose Commins, who married Blanche de Warrenne Waller in Sydney on 21-Feb-1900. Blanche de Warrenne Commins was resident in Gisborne, New Zealand from 1919 and had already been widowed at that time. She remarried a civil engineer, John Alexander McDonald and they continued to live in Gisborne. Her second husband died between 1928 and 1931. Blanche died in Gisborne on 16-Oct-1941 (aged 67).

Did the Commins family come from New Zealand? Or did they originate from co.Upper Tipperary in Ireland, where the Waller's had resided until the 1840s?

I saw your 2007 posting on Ancestry.com. I have Commins family members too. When some of them got to America they spelled their name: Cummins.

One son, Patrick Commins, son of Owen Commins and Bridget Coen Commins was from Oranmore, Galway, Ireland. He's the only child who went to Australia from Ireland and then moved on to England. Does this name fit with your research?
