My Grandmother, Maida Comeau and her Sister, Winifred were born in Bear
River, 1910 and 1912. There father was one Walter Comeau, the son of
Tilly Comeau.(We are not sure if Comeau was possibly Tilly's maiden
name) (also we don't know if Tilly was her christian name or a nickname)
Tilly Comeau is in the book on the "Story of Bear River", the "Peter
Wheeler Trial." of 1896.
We are having a problem finding out the names and birth information
pertaining to Tilly, Walter and Tilly's other three children.
We have not been able to locate any information about Walter's father
and whom he was.
We assume Maida was baptized at the St. Louis Catholic Church in
Annapolis Royal, N.S. on the 12th of March, 1912. (I did suprisingly
and happily find this Church last week and did write down the address of
the Rectory and the Reverend to contact him.) Winifed was born in
January,1912.
The mother of Maida and Winifred was Teresa Nee Crosby.(Walter's first
wife)
We have not been able to locate any birth records for Tilly, Walter or
Teresa.
I was just in N.S. last week, i only had a few days to search ...upon
arriving at Bear River it was on a Friday afternoon, around 3pm, and the
Historical Society was closed.
I could not retreive any information at St. Anne School Library, in
Annapolis, without permission from the Bishop, they told me.
My cousin, from Maryland, visited about ten years ago and she has not
been able to get any further than what i have told you.
If you can be of any help to us or can tell us who we many contact,
please do let us know.
I do thank you in advance.
Yours truly,
Susan Larkin,
"Maida's grand-daughter. Walter's great-grand-daughter and Tilly's
great-great-grand-daughter!"
