Hi,
I've just found this new twig on my DAWE family and have been reviewing the existing trees out there and have some questions and comments.
1) Marriage of Nicholas and Honor
Many trees show this as 24 Feb 1859.
However freebmd shows the registration as 1st qtr 1858 (confirmed via findmypast images).
2) Nicholas' parents.
Ancestry trees vary between no parents shown; mother Sarah, parents William and Mary;
I picked the miller's apprentice 1851 census at Trenethick (as opposed to the tin dresser son of Mary at Crane) for this Nicholas, and he's with his mother Sarah, which name I've also seen as Sally in other families.
This fits the Wendron baptism 25 Dec 1836 to Thomas and Sally COMBELLACK.

Children:
1) William c 1859
1881 William D COMBELLACK miller in Wotton Under Edge, GLS, seems more likely than the 1891 William H COMBELLACK tin miner married to Faith
I'm leaning towards William being William Dawe COMBELLACK possibly marrying 1st to Elizabeth Jane THOMAS (1893) then Jane WARREN ( 1899), and appearing at Camborne in the 1901 census with a 6 yr old dtr Mary Jane born Bodmin.
2) Emily Jane c Dec 1860 vs Jane c 1862
Given that Isaac Daw COMBELLACK's birth was registered Jun qtr 1862, and that for an Emily Jane C. in Sep 1862, I have assumed that 9 yr old Jane in the 1871 census is the 4 mos old Emily Jane from 1861. FreeBMD doesn't yet have her 1860 birth reg. but it is on Findmypast in 1860 Qtr 4.
Does anyone know if she married Hugh NICHOLLS or John GOLDSWORTHY?
At the moment my money is on the former.
3) Isaac Daw COMBELLACK
Most trees agree that Nicholas and Honor had a son Isaac who married Annie PUGH.
Some call him Isaac Charles some Isaac Daw, some just Isaac.
The only record with Daw as a middle name that I've found is an 1862 birth reg., which date fits most census data.
Curious where the Charles version comes from, particularly as this is the line that caught my attention in the first place, with descendants coming to NZ (where I live, a descendant of a related Honour DAW).

Other notes to follow once life stops intervening with the genealogical fun.
Interested to hear from descendants of Nicholas and Honor,
Regards
Lorna
