McReynolds Family- ClanRanald

Surnames: McReynolds, MacRanald, McRannell
I have been told that my 10th great grandfather, Johne MacRanald or McRannell, was a direct descendent of John of Islay, Lord of Isles' third son Alexander (Alastair Carrach). However, I cannot find the people linking Alexander to Johne. I also read that Johne's father was Alexander and he was born in 1600.

Some people have listed Johne's father Alexander as the Alexander who was the third son of John of Islay. However, there is a large difference in the time period in which they lived.

I know this is confusing. If you have any information or can provide me with a place to retrieve information, it would be greatly appreciated.

I hope this helps you find what you need. If you are related to Johne MacRanald as your great-grandfather you are also related to King Robert the Bruce, the 1st King of Scotland. I am also a great-granddaughter of Johne MacRannell/MacReynolds.

Thank you soooo much! I hadn't found any other trees that had the same information as what I had, and because of that I had begun to doubt what I had. Yes, I recently discovered the lineage to Robert the Bruce. If you have any other information or need any, I would love to share.

Thanks again, CMC
