Daniel Comans, was born in Ireland in 1810. Came to the US around 1845 during the Potato Famine. An 1850 census lists Daniel "Cummins" (misspelled by census taker) He was also mis-listed as age 34, if subsequent censuses are correct. Wife, Mary A., 27; Children: Mary Baldwin, 8 and WilliamBaldwin, 6, and Emanda Baldwin, 4. Since these three children have the surname Baldwin, they are assumed to be from Mary's previous marriage. Her first husband was deceased. There was one infant Cummings, 2/12. In the 1860 census, Daniel was listed as "Daniel Coman", 50; Mary A. 37; William Baldwin 16; Normanda C. Baldwin, 14; Cathrina Coman, 9; James, 7; Daniel, 5; Martha, 3; John P., 2; and Briget 1. The 1870 census lists "Daniel Comans",59; Mary A.,46; It also lists ten kids, one 19 name not discernable but the rightful place and age of Catrina; James,17; Daniel, 16;Martha, 14, John P., 12; Bridget, 10; William T., 7; Michael, 5; Gloria, 4;and Terissa 4.
Each of these censuses lists Daniel as being born in Ireland. They list wife Mary as being born in Georgia and each of the children as being born in Mississippi.
