Anna Popa Coman
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday in Holy Trinity Romanian Orthodox Church in Youngstown, Ohio for Anna (Popa) Coman, 95, formerly of Pulaski, Pa. (Lawrence County) who passed away early Monday morning, Dec. 28, 2009, in the Jameson Health Care Center.
Born Oct. 10, 1914 in Youngstown, Ohio, (MAHONING COUNTY) she was a daughter of the late John and Anna Nyerges Popa.
Anna lived in the same house most of her life, being raised there and then raised her family there.
She was a 1931 graduate of New Castle High School.
She was a member of the Holy Trinity Romanian Orthodox Church in Youngstown, where she volunteered with cooking and baking.
She also belonged to the Pulaski Township Fireman Lady’s Auxiliary.
Anna voted in every election in the last 50 years and received a proclamation from the state for her perfect voting record.
Her husband, Alex Coman, whom she married Oct. 3, 1936, passed away on May 23, 1993.
Survivors include two sons, Nick of Florida and Dan of Maryland; two brothers, Charles of Youngstown, Ohio and Daniel of Michigan; two sisters, Irene Koluk of Canada and Mary Jane Tompkins of California; 18 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death two sons, John and Raymond Coman; a sister, Elaine Dumitru; and a brother, John Popa.
Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Wasko Funeral Home, 216 Coitsville Road, Campbell, Ohio, and on Monday morning at the church from 10 to 11a.m.
A prayer service will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
