There is a VERY large branch of the Coman family from this area. St. Nicholas Romanian Orthodox Church has marriage and some birth records.

Alex Coman had 5 sons, and he was one of 8 sons from the previous generation.

This branch of the family comes from Sibiu (Hermannstadt) in Transylvania where they built the Romanian Orthodox Cathedral. The Church has a complete history of marriages, births, deaths up until WWII in the vestuary going back until the 12th century.

Hi,
I am Jim Coman from Youngstown, and my grandfather was Lew Coman, from Transylvania, who came to the US in 1916, from Transylvania. He nevered discussed any other family members, and we always thought all siblings remained in Romania. Lew was married to Ann Bailey, a slovakian.
They settled in Stark County Ohio, and remained there until Lew died in 1980. I would love to know more about the family that is still in Youngstown area. I wonder if Alex and Lew were related some how. Please let me know any information you might have.
Thanks

I'd love to correspond about this line. I have an Alexander Coman who married Anna Popa and was from Youngstown. I only have 4 sons listed: Nicholas Alexander, Daniel, John, and Raymond. This Alexander was the son of a Nicholas Coman of Romania who married a Georgette (surname unknown). I have that he had a Nicholas Coman Jr. and a Mary in addition to Alex.

Alexander Coman and Anna Popa are my grandparents. My father was Raymond Coman. Are you related to Alex Coman?
