I see your post is 10 yrs old, so hope this connects with you. My grandmother, Myrtie, was also a sister to Susan and Margaret so we must be from the same line. My mother was Mazie Roley. Hope to hear back.

I am wondering if you can help me with the sisters of that generation? My grandmother was Myrtie Comalander, sister to Margaret and Susan. I know there was another sister who died, leaving one child. He was Paul Albert Nicholas. But I do not know his mother's name. He was on the census; 1930 I believe, in residence with Myrtie Comalander Roley family. Mother said he lived with them most of the time. Mother was Mazie Roley, daughter of Myrtie and William Henry Roley. Would love to be able to fill in this blank!

Hi, I believe the sister you are looking for was Gracie Comalander married Jordan Nichols. I got this from the FamilySearch.org web site so I'm not positive of the accuracy of the information. My family was Marcus and Susan Smith, do you have any information concerning this line? If you do I would love to share. I also have a picture of Margaret and one of her sons and some grandchildren on a boat if you would like a copy. I talked to Patsy years ago over the phone and she was extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the family. She gave me this list of children, M. Evans, James Elmore, Leslie Love, Gracie, Robert, Myrtie Lee, Wesley Doe, Margaret Lenore. Rumor is that Margaret Smith/Comalander was indian. Have you heard this also?

Hello Teresa,
I was just sorting through the posts about Comalander when yours caught my eye. I see it was some years ago. Please help me with the info about Murdie (Myrtie Lee). You said she married a brother who killed her father??? She did marry a man named Johnson and they had one child Agnes. She was widowed and then married my grandfather, William Henry Roley. He was blind from a hunting accident while in his teens. Can you explain which husband killed her father? And also the circumstances. So hoping to hear back from you, this is the first I've heard of this story

Was there another couple sisters to Margaret and Susan? My grandmother was of this family, I think. She was Myrtie Lee Comalander, married William Henry Roley. There was another sister named Grace Margaret who died in 1924 and had married a Nicholas. Any ideas on more birth info?

My grandmother was a Comalander from Escambia County; she married Wm Henry Roley. So Jacob is my ancestor as well. I am just piecing together this history. Would love to be in touch. I will be in Florida in April. my email pointer1981@yahoo.com Hope to hear from you. I had also heard about the ancestor who stowed away in a barrel, though I thought it was from my mom's paternal side.
Thanks

Your post is almost a decade old; so I'm unsure where you might be in your search. Please visit my tree: Chupp/Jensen/Roley/Comalander Family History. Then access John Comalander (father to Jacob, Jesse, and others). I have just begun to make headway. Once at John's profile look at the 2 stories; one account from South Carolina Magazine of Ancestral Research. Church information is given there. The other from the Wessinger family. Their article states the Wessinger family lived near Irmo SC and they left SC for Dallas County, AL with other families (Comalanders are mentioned here). Then you can track the land acquisitions of Jacob, Jesse, John, Daniel, and George (?) either from my tree or ancestry. Anxious to hear if this helps? I haven't gotten any further back than South Carolina as of yet.
