I am searching for my great-great father, John Monroe Cole. I have traced him up to the 1880 census in Clay Twp, Linn County, Missouri, and there it stops. I am also unable to find a death record for him. He was born about 1833 in New York and moved with his father, Spencer Cole, and step mother, Martha, to Rock County, Wisconsin. Here he married my great-great grandmother, Louisa Fanny Egery, in 1865 and later moved to Linn County, Missouri. She later fell ill and returned to Rock County, Wisconsin. He remarried and was still in Linn County in 1880, with his wife Martha and son George. My great grandmother was 14 in 1880 and was listed in the census in Linn County also, but living with another family listed as servant (or housekeeper). Any information would be greatly appreciated.
