We're looking for ANY information about parents, greatgp and beyond for Alvin Cole. We believe he was born around the mid 1870's (1873,74,75,76) and died around 1921. He married Sophie Singer who we know lived in Suffern, NY - at least after Alvin's death. Sophie died around 1954.

Alvin and Sophie had two sons:
- Alvin Cole (d.1982) who married Lillian Storms and later Catherine Conklin who died June 1945. There were three children from Alvin's marriages - Berniece, Lorraine and Pear.
- Harry Edward Cole (b. 2/21/1897, d.8/6/1983) Harry (my maternal grandfather) married Sarah Louise VanAlstyne (b. 4/14/1898, d.11/22/1991) She and Harry were married 4/14/1917 and had three daughters:
First Daughter: Ruth Lillian Cole Van Wagenen (b.6/2/1918) married 8/5/1944 to Kenneth Alfred Van Wagenen (b.12/13/1917)- had two daughters, Joyce Darlene Van Wagenen Svec who married Robert Svec and had two sons - Robert Kenneth Svec now living in New Mexico and Jeffery Jonathan Svec living in NJ. Second daughter Judith Lynn Van Wagenen Ponn Terry - married William Edward Ponn Jr.(from Luray, VA) 12/27/69 and had two sons, William Edward Colevan Ponn (b. 3/31/1973) who married Lori Brewer and has a son Dennis William Jackson Ponn (b.12/18/98) presently living in Haymarket, VA, and Jeremy David Ponn (b. 12/9/1974) presently living in Cortland, NY. Judy and Bill were divorced March 1984. Judy remarried May 1984 to Steven Frederic Terry (no children). William Edward Ponn, Jr. also remarried in May 1984 to Phyllis Ann (last name unknown) no additional children here either.
Harry and Sarah's second daughter was Alice Louise Cole Chattaway(dead)- husband George Chattaway(dead) had three sons - George, Edward and Thomas.
Harry and Sarah's third daughter is Edith Marie Cole Klaschka. She married David Klaschka and has two daughters Gloria and Barbara (both married but last names unknown) and one son Donald (deceased).

Alvin had brothers - only two we are certain of but think he had more. The two we know of are George Cole who lived in Tallman, NY. We do not know his wife's name but they had three children - Lucille Cole, who married Raymond Post, they had a daughter Dee Dee; Edith Cole, no known info on her; and Irving Cole (who was blind) was married but don't know to whom, and they had one daughter - don't know her name.
Another brother of Alvin Cole was William Cole. His wife's name was Elizabeth (last name unknown) and they had several children (names unknown).
Alvin had a sister Etta Cole who married Cornelius Cooper and they lived in Paterson, NJ. They had two children - Martha Cooper DeVoie who lived at 1099 E. 23rd St. in Paterson, NJ and a son Harry Cooper. There were one or two additional daughters. Another sister of Alvin's was Martha Cole. She married William Van Dam but had no children. Both Martha and William were ministers.

On Sophie Singer Cole's side - her parents were Mary (unknown maiden name) and George Singer was her father. Sophie had two sisters - Lizzie Singer who married John Stevens and had a son named Abe Stevens who lived in Spring Valley, NY.
There was another sister but don't know her name but that sister married Elmer Semsey and had two daughters - Martha Samsey who married Thomas Straut - had one son Thomas Walter Straut. And second daughter Sophie Semsey who married Henry Steigeman. They had one daughter named Eleanor Steigeman. Sophie Singer also had two brothers - Lewis Singer who had a daughter Tosiland, and a second brother John Singer. No other information is known.
