One of them was John Allen Reaugh (Jefferson Co.?, KY: 1821-1875: Morgan Co., IL), the paternal grandfather of Irene. Does anyone know the genealogical details for any descendants of Tristram Coffin Colcord, II (WV?: 1898-4/1965: Collier Co., FL). Its my guess that they had a daughter named Linda Irene Colcord? Mullins, but I may be wrong. Also, where was this Tristram buried?

Arthur Berry Colcord, born 16 Jul 1884, in Stockton Springs, Waldo, Maine was the son of Capt. Melvin Edgar Colcord and Roxanna Larabee Cleaves. He married Alice Lillian Apt on 28 Dec 1912 in Searsport, Maine. I have been able to find 3 children.
1. Doris B, born 03 Jul 1913, Stockton Springs, Maine.
2. Aurthur Berry Jr, born 08 Jan 1917, Stockton Springs, Maine. Married Margaret G Curran on 28 Jul 1945 in Stockton, Maine. Died 18 Apr 1970, Stockton Springs, Maine.
3. Harold M, born 16 Jul 1923, Stockton Springs, Maine. Married Frances L Canterbury 01 Aug 1964 in Maine. Died 28 Oct 1983 in Malden, MA.

Wow, my first note on this was 5 years ago.

Looking in my tree, I have 3 Joseph Colcord members.

Joseph Colcord (b. 1754) married Francis (Fanny) Russell
He served in the Revolutionary War.

Their Son Joseph Colcord (b. 1784) was married to Sally Jenness.

They have a son Joseph who appears to have died young (1812)

It is very likely that there are more Joseph Colcords. The elder Joseph had 2 brothers, David (b. 1745) and Samuel (b 1748).

It appears that your Joseph and mine are likely not the same, perhaps cousins?

I am looking very hard for info on Mary E. Calkins, daughter of Emily Colcord. Mary's mother Emily Colcord would have died when she was only four years old.

I presume she went to Coudersport because her uncle David D. and Aunt Eliza were already there. They attended Academy there.

Emily Colcord's mother and father are Joseph Colcord and Sally Dickinson Colcord. It is NOT Jenness. I saw her grave with my own eyes and it says Sally Dickinson, wife of Joeseph Colcord.

Mary E. Calkins is my great great grandmother

He began his business career as a clerk, and after spending some time in the west, came to Herkimer in 1887, and opened his present business of dry goods, fancy goods, etc. His ancestors resided in Maine for several generations. Mr. Colcord married a daughter of Louis Webster, but she died in 1889. He has one daughter. He is a member of the Masonic fraternity, and is an independent in politics.

I, too, am a descendent of Edward Colcord. My line is through his daughter, Shuah, marrying Richard Nason. Richard was murdered by Native Americans and his son, Richard, was taken captive and brought to Quebec. He was then raised by a French family, married a French girl and thus his descendent [myself] had no idea that we had British colonial ancestors in the US. What is also a funny coincidence is that I moved to the area they lived...I work in Portsmouth, go to church in Hampton, and live in Newmarket, where I understand Edward owned land. I would love to learn more about Edward and his children. Do you know where he's buried? I went to the old cemetery in Hampton last weekend but didn't find a headstone for him. Yep, I am. What was your Dad's name? I met both of Drummy's sons at a family reunion in Maine back in 1999. I remember one them's name was Billy. Drummond was the only one of my Dad's brother that I knew. He was a funny guy. I met Uncle Morty, AKA "Yank", once in Charleston SC when I lived there and went to meet him with my Dad. You are right, there were nine or ten of them and now all their offspring. We all are direct descendants of Edward who came to the colonies in 1631 from England. Take care.

"J.B. Loring has just launched a handsome new boat, and a very sizable one for Capt. Emery Colcord. The boat is a center-board, and has a nice sail and fixings."

My Dad is Bill. Well, then you probably met me because I was at that family reunion. It was interesting because I met some Colcords that I never met before but felt comfortable around them right away. They all knew Drummond. Yeah, he was great.

Do you know about the shipwreck that Drummonds father Herbert survived as a boy?

I've done a bit of research on Edward Colcord from 1631. There's an interesting article on him at http://www.masland.org Click on Documents and the article is at the top of the list.

Huh. So you're my Dad's cousin. My Dads' father was Drummond. Think of all the cousins just from our little branch of the Colcord 'tree'. Because Rupert had all those brothers and sisters. But Bertie didn't take too good care of them I hear. He was always away at sea.

I've been reading some books about sailors in the 1800's so I know how some of those sailors could behave!

I have a newspaper article my brother sent me on a Capt. Colcord. Capt. Colcord was on the ship Elizabeth out of Belfast,Me. He had a wife,son and daughter. There was 29 aboard the ship and only 11 survived.

Conflicting postings indicate Jesse had 2 wives: Elizabeth "Betsey" Emery and Susanna Nason/Nasson and 11 children born 1794-1817 (Elizabeth, David, Mary, Betsey, Rhonda, Jesse, Phineas, Susan, Isabella, Caleb and Charlotte S.)

Was there also a son named John N. Colcord?

Postings indicate that Charlotte S. (Sophia ?) married Peter Hatch.

A goggle citation for "Emigrants to Oregon in 1843" indicates that Charlotte Sophia Colcord accompanied her brother John N. Colcord, a seaman, to the Hawaiian Islands. Charlotte taught at the Methodist Mission in Honolulu, met and married Peter Holt Hatch, and in 1843 they relocated to Oregon, where Charlotte died in 1846.

Did Jesse marry more than once? Who is the mother of his several children, and has anyone determined that there was another son named John N. ???

MRS M. E. COLCORD DIES AT OLD AGE

FORMERLY LIVED IN OKLAHOMA CITY - HER HUSBAND WAS A PIONEER

Charles F Colcord, a local capitalist received a telegram last night
announcing the death of his mother, Mrs M. E. Colcord, 78 years
of age, in San Diego, Cal.

Mrs Colcord lived in Oklahoma City in the early days. Following
the death of her husband, a pioneer, several years ago, she removed
to her former home, San Diego, Cal.

Mrs Colcord is survived by four children: Mrs Mary L. Hughes,
who was present at his deathbed; William C and Harvey S Colcord,
who reside in western Arizona, and Charles F. Colcord.

Mr Colcord will be unable to attend the funeral because of the
long distance.

Colcord was named for Charles Francis Colcord. He was born in Kentucky in 1859, married to Harriet Scoresby in Hutchinson, Kansas in Sept 1884, had 7 children, and later had a ranch in Delaware county Oklahoma near the town of Colcord. Harriet's brother Oliver Cromwell Scoresby worked for Colcord in some capacity. Have more information, if desired.

If the Chamber of Commerce has any information on the Colcord family, I would be very interested in seeing it. I am presently working on a Scoresby family descendancy (not a relative, just interested in Reno county Kansas history).

Also interested in seeing any data on the family of Edwin Melville Dewitt and his wife Antoinette Louisa Scoresby. They lived at Grove, Oklahoma - he died about 1932, she passed later.

I purchased an old genealogy journal from 1965 and there is an article in it by Timothy A. Colcord titled, "What ever happened to Phineas Colcord?". The article describes his life and lists his children.

Theodore P. Colcord 1914 Maine obituary

Theodore Colcord's obituary, attached, comes from a scrapbook which contains many undated items. The date on this one is probably Theodore's death date (March 22, 1914 was a Sunday) and not the date of the newspaper (which name is unknown to me). An age of 66 in 1914 would put his birth year at about 1848. This is consistent with 1860 and 1870 census entries for the family.
