I am trying to trace members of the Colohan family who originated in Coolea, Ahascragh, Ballinsasloe, Co Galway, EIRE on behalf of my dad. William Colohan & Mary Ward had 8 children who were:
1) John Colohan born Feb 1874 and who we believe sailed to Ellis Island USA in May 1906, manifest says he was going to stay with his brother Patrick at 9th Avenue, NY
2) Bridget Colohan born Feb 1876 – we believe sailed to Ellis Island in May 1901
3) Patrick Colohan born Jan 1878 – we believe went to USA and may have become a priest?
4) Ellen Colohan born Mar 1880 – we believe sailed to Ellis Island in Jul 1897
5) Honoria Colohan born May 1882 and we believe may have died 1883
6) William Colohan born April 1884 – we believe wnet to Ellis Island in Sept 1910 and was going to see his brother John @ 953 Columbus Avenue, NY.
7) Martin Colohan born Feb 1886 who was my grandfather. He married Rose Donoghue and raised his family in Coolea, Ahascragh, Ballinsaloe, Co Galway. They had 6 chldren, one of whom is my dad Padraic Colohan who came to London in the 1960s
8) Kate/Catherine Colohan born Jun 1889 – we believe sailed to Ellis Island Sept 1904 and on the manifest it says she was going to her sister Ellen at 316 West 106 St, NY?
My dad is approaching his 70th birthday and is really keen to find out what happened to all his aunts and uncles but we really don’t have much more information than above. If you believe any of the above are your ancestors, it would be lovely to hear from you. My email address is rffarr@sky.com
Many thanks
Rachel Farr (nee Colohan)

My grandfather is john (sean in irish) colahan, who's entire family originates in Ballynrsloe. He was orphaned in the late 30's early 40's as a child there and put into an catholic orphanage, however i am aware that he has/had a cousin Nora who still lives in the area. John (my grandfather) has been active on this site and i do know that he is extremely knowledgeable about about the Colahans from Ballynrsloe and could probably point you in the right direction.
