Hey Tina, Ran a search on my last name and your posting here came up. Can't help you much on the Mageno family. In fact I've just recently met some of your side of the Colacion family tree. I met Phillip Jr. and his brother, the other Michael Colacion, and their dad Phillip Sr.. My father was Leonard Colacion, and my grandfather was Jose Colacion. As I understand my dad and your dad were cousins. My sister has some info on the Colacion side going back maybe 4 or 5 generations. Do you also have this info? Also I found a Kristi Colacion who works for a police department in Texas. Any one you know? Well just wanted to say hello and introduce myself. Take Care, Mike

Hi! I am glad to finally come across another Colacion other than my sister. By the way are you related to Tony Colacion or Aaron Colacion? I came across their names while researching our last name. I don't have a lot of information yet, but I plan on speaking to my grandparents in Mexico. I do know that Colacion means snack, to bring up or candy, you can actually find it in a spanish/english dictionary. Well I have family in Juarez, Mexico and in Parral and Talamantes area. I have been told that my Grandfather and/or his family came from some area in Spain. I haven't been able to varify this, but I will. My grandparents names are Miguel & Juana Colacion. My father's name was Damian and he has a sister named Sylvia and a brother who is also deceased named Pedro, ( I think ) My sister and I do not keep in contact with this side of our family, but I would like to. Can you give me more information regarding your branch of the Colacion family tree, I would like to ask my grandparents if they have any knowledged about them. Also, if you have any backround or history on our family I would love to read it. Oh yeah, I almost forgot I also have cousins in New Mexico who I have also never met, but I do know we are definatly related. Do you have any family in Texas, New Mexico, or Mexico? Again, I would love to hear from you. Take care and nice knowing you are out there.

Hey Michael!!! Well, it's a pleasure to hear that I am making hits on this Web Site. I don't have the information that your sister has. Since we are related, do think that your sister will share the information? I live in Cali. You mentioned that you met my uncle Philip and my cousins, did you get a chance to also meet my Great Grandma, Dona Josefa? She is a facinating lady and can share stories with you and your sister, if you ask her. My Grandfather, Bernard is also knowledgable on the subject of the family. Where do you live? How old are you? Married, children? Please email me, My email address is: TinaCinca@aol.com. I'd love to hear from you. Guess we are cousins then, huh?

Hey Maria!! Well, I was glad to hear from you. Since you already know how unusual the COLACION surname is, I'm not sure if we are related. It's a definate possibilty though. I am sure that you read the intro letter that I wrote. That is the extent of my knowledge thus far. I have to make the time to sit down and talk to my Great Grandma and my Granddaddy. I have printed your letter and Michaels. I am going to be in touch with my Granddaddy this weekend. I am going to run the names that you gave me by him and then I will let you know what he has to say about everything. OK? I know that I am related to Michael S. Colacion. I live in So. Cali and I will be 34 this month. I have one brother and he lives outside of Denver, Co. I have a cousin that plays football at the University of Colorado, his name is Tony Colacion. Most of the Colacion family that I know about all live locally in the So Cal region. There are some people with the Colacion surname on the East Coast. One of them is an Ex-wife of a cousin of mine. The rest I don't know about. But my granddaddy say that we are related. Well, hope to hear from you soon. If you want to you can e-mail me directly. My e-mail address is: TinaCinca@aol.com. I look forward to hearing from you soon. Take care and if you happen to have any other information, do you mind sharing it with me, so that I can pass it along to my graddaddy and my great grandma? LOVE, PEACE AND HAPPINESS ... TINA

Hello Maria, Great to hear from you. Well, I have yet to meet a Colacion who's not related to me also. With such an unusual last name we are bound to share some common roots. Most People I've talked to have never heard the name and are unfamiliar with the word even. I did work with a lady who was from the Mexico City area and she laughed when she heard my name. She couldn't believ some one had the name "snack" basicly. She said they used to eat something called Colaciones during lent when she grew up in Mexico. Back in the 80's when one of my brothers worked in a department store he had a customer who was from Mexico who saw his name badge and couldn't believe that was his name. He had never met another Colacion himself outside of his family. I don't think they even exchange numbers/addresses! My cousin has kids in New Mexico near Roswell I believe, but they are not Colacion's by name. Is your sister the one that works for a police department in Texas? As far as I understand, my grandfather Jose and his brother (Felipe I believe) came to Los Angeles in the late teens or early twenties. I believ they had a sister or two that stayed in Mexico. I believe they were from somewhere near the city of Torreon. That's about all I know off the top of my head. here is some info I e-mailed to Tina also. My dad Leonard passed away last year, he'd be 69 years old right now. Anyhow, about myself, I'm the 5th of 6 kids. They are, oldest to youngest: Lorraine (now Olson), Leonard Jr., Robert, Edward, myself, and Patrick. I'm 35, live in Long Beach,CA have a 6 year old son Gabriel. I have 9 nephews and nieces (soon to be 10). Aaron (who plays soccer for UCI) and Anthony (who plays football for Colorado State) are my brother Leonard's (Junior to us) two oldest boys. I'll try and get a hold of my sister this week and get what family history she does have from her. Also, I had also found some info on the Mormon church's site <familysearch.org>. Here's what I found:
Mariano Reyes Colacion (male) Bapt. 12-11-1780 Parents: Mathias De Los Reyes (father) Mria. Colacion (mother) Santo Domingo, Yanhuitlan, Oaxaca
Maria Josefa Colacion Bapt. 12-20-1801 Parents: Tomasa Colacion (mother) El Sagrario Metropolitano, Victoria De Durango, Durango
Ynez Colacion Married 1-12-1862 to: Franca. Rodriguez San Bartolome, Valle De Allende, Chihuahua
I'm assuming the location information is church/city/ state in that order.
Well until next time, -- Mike
