My paternal grandmother was Martha COLAS from St. Landy Parish, Louisiana. Some members of our family are scattered throughout the United States. Perhaps we can share information. You may e-mail me, ELMARCOB@CS.COM.

I am looking for any descendants of Ernest and Eugenia
Colas. Eugenia's maiden name was Fortier. They resided
most of their lives in Edgard, Louisiana, St. John the
Baptist Parish, mid -late 1800's. If you are related to
this link, please contact me.

Dear Marie,
P>If you'd go to the unabridged dictionary you'd see
that all these names are connected, which is why the
census takers spelled the names differently.
If you'd like we can discuss the matter further contact me.
My wife is a Colas descendant, from Josephine Colas of LA,
daugther of Joseph and Pauline.

I am trying to find links to information on the COLAS Family who were from Edgard, Louisiana. My fraternal grand father was Joseph Ernest Colas, born in 1897. I just learned that one of his brothers, Angelo Colas, had a son name Joesph Bienvenu Colas.
I don't know much about the history of my family. If you are a link and would like to share some information, I would really appreciate it.

I have not been able to get beyond my great, great grandfather, Jean Baptiste COLAS whose first wife was Virginia (Jenny) MARTINEAU. they lived in St. Landry Parish. I don't know where either one of them came from.

I have COLAS cousins in the New Orleans area. Some of them spell their names in different ways, e.g., COLAR/COLLA/COLLAS/COLLARD, etc.)

I am still tracking Census, Church, and marriage records trying to locate the Louisiana entry of the first COLA to come to Louisiana.

Perhaps we can share information as we obtain it.
Contact me at Elmarcob@cs.com.
