Tara, I,too, am seeking data. I am told Coile originated in England and is derived from a place name. Some went to Eire, and the gaelic name translates to"the dark stranger".I plan to check at a big library. I am descended from a Warren Coile, ca 1807, who supposedly came to Madison/Oglethorpe Co.,GA from Virginia when he was a young man. There were many cousins, I understand. I was born in Macon. My father was born in Winterville, where his father has his medical practice. Are we kin? Write me. Maurine"Betty" Spieldenner, nee Coile.

Rev.Arthur Diamond Coile, and his lovely wife, Dezzie (Dudley) Coile of Ogle.County, are my Grandparents on my Mother's side. Arthur had a brother, Gus, a blind man,and wife, Rena. I have a limited ancestry written by my brother, Billy, when he attended UGA. I remember a Warren Coile being mentioned in something I have. My Mother, Agnes married Pat Herring and moved to Athens, GA when I was a baby about 1947-48, maybe. Let me hear from you.

Two Coile brothers originally came from Ireland. They split, one went south, one went north. The southern brother spelled his name Coile. The northern brother spelled his name Coyle. The family name has 800 years of Irish history. All this from a distant couison.
