CASSIUS COHENOUR
SEPTEMBER 28, 1967

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 26, at the Raleigh J. Harris Funeral home, Pontiac, for Cassius C. Cohenour, 83, formerly of Pontiac and Chatsworth, who died at the Oaks Nursing Home at Hinsdale Saturday, Sept. 23. Rev. Orville Kalkwarf officaiated and burial was in the Chatsworth cemetery.
He was born September 16, 1884, in Gallipolis, Ohio, a son of Christopher and Martha Smith Cohenour. He married Grace Phipps, June 15, 1912, in Chicago.
Surviving are his wife; two sons, Clarence, La Grange; Gerald Santa Anna, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. James Phipps, Roberts, Miss Roxie Cohenour, Paxton; four grandchildren and a great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a son, three brothers and three sisters.
He was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran church at Chatsworth and farmed in the Chatsworth area until 1936. He then farmed near Rowe until 1950 when he moved to Pontiac.

Wm. born abt. 1845 md. Alma Cline in 1867. Lived Pekin Twp., Tazewell Illinois at 1870 census chi: Henry & Melvin. Living 1900 Decatur Iowa chi: Melvin, George, Cora, Myrtle. Family may have been in Buchanan MO also. Cora died in St. Joseph, Buchanan, MO. in 1958. Death certificates notes Cora widowed twice & had lived St. Joe's since 1913. Husband named on death certificate is Elmer Tolberd. Cora had two children son Cleo, daughter Alma who md. a Smith and was informant for Cora's death cert. Looking for mg. info for Elmer & Cora. Wm. & Alma Cohenour are said to be buried in St. Joseph, Mo.

Looking for any info on Guy Cohenour.

I am the grandaughter of Dr. Ernest Cohenour. My grandmother is Eileen Rub (cohenour) and my mother is Barbara Cohenour - Briscall. My grandmother was married at a young age to "Ernie". They had 3 children Brent, Charles and Barbara. When my mother was young they divorced in Reno, Nevada. My grandfather then married Jeanette and she had my uncles "Chip" Carl and Dave. They all lived in Joliet, Ill.

1880 Census shows :

Isaiah F. Coughenour 39 Born in PA wife Dianah, 32 born in PA. Son John H. 11 and son Samuel 10. Family History film 255134 Residence - Cromwell, Huntingdon, PA.

He was in Co. B 110th PA Vol. Infantry. He mustered in 1861 and out in 1864.

Hi, I am the only grandchild of Johnny B. Cohenour who was married to Stella Josephine Miller. They had one child, a daughter, Catherine Belle Cohenour.who was my mother. I may have some pictures of my great grandfather, but I don't remember what his name was. It may be witten on the back of the pictures. There are still a few people left in wva (Natomia or Easter or Ernest or Denzel) who might be able to remember what his name was. My Granny just passed away a few years ago or she could have told you. I remember uncle Richard coming to visit us at the resturant that my grandparents owned in Flagstaff and I remember Aunt Norie. Where were "Maggie" and John after 1910 - where and when did they decease? Appreciate any and all input.

I am the great granddaughter of Samuel Cohenour and Blanche Larue Waite. I do not know very much about them, I do know they had 15 children.. They lived in Huntingdon county, PA. Possibly in Northern Franklin, Mifflin, and Juniata Counties, also. Here is what I know about their children.
