My cousin and I are working on an article about David Dunlap Cohee (1853-1934 Lebanon, IN). He was our great-great grandfather who kept a diary every day for about 60 years. When he died, I believe the diaries were distributed to his heirs. We'd really like to find any existing diaries and/or transcripts so that we can write an article about him. We'd also really enjoy hearing from anyone who is old enough to remember him. I have had the opportunity to see some diaries and transcribe them. I have pictures and info I'd be glad to share. Please email directly or reply here. Thanks. Jami Davis (and Olivia Davis)

Jami- My dad has a copy of one of the diaries. I could send you photo copies. I would love to have copies of whatever you may have.

Erin: How did your dad get the photo copy? Are you a descendant of one of David's children? Of course, I'd love a copy--could you please email me and we can work out the details? So glad you replied. Jami

I have been wanting to work on getting the diaries together too, compile them and possibly get them published (Senior history major here :D)

I'm going to work on gettting a website set up to make it easier for us all to contact him. There will be a large amount of people to contact considering David had 10 children. I'm Linda Wooldridge's granddaughter, from Colm's crew.

I misspoke, David did not have 10 children, I believe one of his sons may have though. I am still in the process of building the tree, it gets very difficult with so many people.

My father was Gerald Max Cohee, son of Joseph Cohee, son of David Cohee. I was given a diary and have it and one that was given to my brother, Ron Cohee. I would love to see all of them together in a museum in Lebanon. I don't think that will happen as some of my cousins have told me they don't know what happened to their copy. I know some were given to the great-grandchildren. I beleive my sister, Penny Sue Cohee DeRoo and my brother Richard Cohee also have copies. I was told the Indpls Star borrowed them to help set up the weather department when it was first implemented. I will try to help with your great project. Thanks, Geri Cohee Bevens Petersen

Hi Geri: Thanks for your post. I have talked to the library in Lebanon about scanning the diaries, maybe three or four years ago. I haven't been working on this much due to my job.Your dad was my "great-uncle" Gerald's actual uncle. Gerald's father Wayne moved to CA after his wife died and Gerald was raised by my great-grandparents, Ivan and Florence Wills Cohee. We called him Uncle Tom and my grandma considered him her younger brother. I've recently heard of another Cohee in Northern CA through one of his in-laws that he has at least one diary. His ancestor is also Joseph Cohee, but not sure which of Joseph's children--probably one that also came to CA. I should get in touch with Uncle Tom's daughters about getting his diaries to the library for scanning. I live in CA and haven't been back to IN for a couple of years. Let's stay in touch. Jami
