James Cohee's Family Bible

James Cohee's Family Bible

Hi,

I recently started doing family research. Last visit with my Grandmother she pulled out the Cohee family bible for me to look at.

James Cohee m. Mary Murphey 5 Sept. 1839
Their Children are:
Edward (1840-1842)
George (1851-1908) m.
Eli (1842-1935) m. Eliza Ann Taylor
Wellington (1853-1854)
Sarah (1845-1848) m. William McKey
Elizabeth (186_-1862)
Pleasant m. Margaret Medoret
Edwin m. Martha Elstron

I am related to James through Eli's daughter Pauline Cohee (1891-1940).

Eli and Eliza's other children were:
William Clem
Bamford Mack
Mary Caroline "Molly"
Minty Florence
James Valentine
Ernest Lannie
Harry Carl
Walter Forrest (Preble County, Ohio Sheriff)
Pauline
Jessie Manzella

If anyone has any information on Pleasant Cohee, or any of them for that matter I would appreciate it!

Also, there was a murder confession in the Bible. It was of a John Adkinson. At the top of the page it says "Mary C"
Basically he was drunk and hit his wife over the head killing her. The bible has both Cohee and Meeks information and I'm not sure which side it belongs to. If anyone has any idea about that one I'd love to hear it. I'm very curious as to who he is!

Thanks,

Jen Meeks

Mary Caroline went by "Molly" b. 22 Jun 1877 d.8 June 1957. 1) Theopolis Brown 2) Christopher Askins 3) Francis Pierson 4) Vern Fadler

For Marriage #1 I have Herman b. May 1890 d. 9 Aug 1977 and Malvin b. 1 Oct 1893 d. 28 Apr 1981

I have 5 kids for Herman and Mildred (?). I also have Herman's obit. I don't know that Herman married in Preble County, I have not found a marriage certificate in Preble County's online records.

I don't have much on Lida Askin and Francis Pierson.

I'm not sure if I'm repeating info. that you already have?!

Below is Herman's Obit. from the Register Herald. Preble Co. Library has scanned a lot of obits and marriage records what are searchable online. The link to the site is:

Mabel Moses

Hey Patricia,

I did a quick search on Mabel Moses on ancestry. I probably didn't find anything you didn't have already. There was one tree of her family posted & the person's contact info. was not included. I did notice that some of her sibilings were born in Butler & Mercer Co. according to this peron's information-- I would maybe try there. I noticed that she was living in Montgomery Co. in 1900, that may even be a place to try.

I don't live in Ohio, what I have done is "check out" microfilm from LDS, and that has been very helpful to me.

I hope this helps,

Jen
