My g-grandfather was James William Cohea from Texas (I think) by way of Arkansas. He moved to Oklahoma Indian Territory in the late 1800's. He had three sons, one was Harry Cohea, who developed TB and moved to Albuquerque, NM. My grandfather was Ray Cohea who followed his brother to Albuquerque. I don't know the other brother's name and there was a sister. I would love any information anyone has to share as I know very little about the Coheas.

In a message by James Coats he stated that Loretta and Charles were the Cohea children...he may have been thinking of my brother. My mother, Bertha, was sister to your grandmother. I have some pics of Aunt Willia and one of you
and Loretta, ..Loretta in her weding dress..you at 5 mos in a dishpan. A birthday party and Aunt Willia wrote on the back..tis is Nickie's 3rd Bday. Who was Nickie?
Did you ever hear from James Coats? He, your Dad, Loretta are my 1st cousins.

My great-grandfather was James William Gilbert Cohea (called JWG or Jim). He settled near Vinita, Indian Territory (now Oklahoma). His wife, Ella Williams Cohea, my great-grandmother, lived with my grandmother, Mabel Cohea. Ella lived to be 89 (when I was 9) and I recall her telling me family stories. JWG died when my grandmother was only 7 in a horse-back riding accident leaving our great-grandmother a widow. In addition to Harry and Ray there was another brother, Clyde. Mabel was the only daughter and youngest of JWG and Ella's children. I have birth/marriage/death dates for them and am happy to share if you'll send me your email. I'd also love any information you might have about this branch of the family.

Just saw your post and would like to get in touch with you. My grandfather was Ray Cohea who was married to Willa June West. They had two children, Howard Eugene Cohea and Christina Loretta Cohea. Howard was my father (he died in 1995). My grandparents moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1923 and stayed there the rest of their lives as did my father. In the last years of her life, my aunt lived with her daughter Michal, in Torrence, CA. Michal now lives in Penn. I would love to know the country where the Coheas originated and what brought them to the US and how did our great-grandparents get to Oklahoma Indian Territory. I found some information that put Ella in Texas but don't know how true this is. I am looking forward to hearing from you. Jaime Cohea Hamilton
