I am a Cogbill in the US. My ancestors came to the US in the 1620s. An early Cogbill was named George and Jesse. I am thrilled to know they may have originated in Warwickshire. Any idea what conditions may have caused them to leave Warwickshire. They ended up doing legal work which became a theme through the years. We are in Virginia mostly. Sure hope they were not fugitives.

Hi there,

George is not a common name in England in the 1620's. My gt gt grandfather was (interestingly) called Jesse Cogbill.

I have some early family tree details that I am happy to e-mail if you'd like me to. My e-mail is claymanb@aol.com

Best Wishes,

Graham
