Hi, I do not know that much about my family. My mother told me that an ancestor came over from Germany, his name Jacob. I know that there was and Ace, Homer and Ernie. I lived to see Homer and Ernie. Grandpa Ernie passed away about 4-6 years ago. He died in his home in Webster Springs WVA. His first wife was Rose, and he was married a second time to Ruby, last name I do not know. Grandpa Ernie had Lena, Hamp, Pete. He has a brother Coy, who just passed this year. My grandmother Lena lives here in Michigan, with her husband Artsil Cogar. He grew up on one side of the Mountain while she grew up on the other. I am just trying to find out more about my family, and if in anyway I am related to any of you! Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I also know that McCoy, and Cowger are in the tree somewhere?????? Thank you!

Do you have any info on Ada Ellen Cogar born 11/10/1890 in Webster County and wed Fred T. Galford in Pocahontas County 7/2/1910. I live in Marlinton and am searching ancestor line of my kid's grandmother, Ada Ellen. Thanks. If I can do any research for you in Marlinton, please let me know.

Howdy Dottie!
I wonder if you might be the aunt/relative by that name I have'nt seen since I was a kid? You/she lived neer a horse riding place with a school down the road where we went to a pot luck once? Anyway,Jacob was Peter's brother (my ancestor),who landed in philly in 1734 on the "pink John & William"...sounds like they should've named it the "raging queen"haha.... Jacob came over on the "Mortonhouse" in 1728. They all brought their families as well. The cowger name comes in where my grandmother Dora cogar re-married "pap" Cowger when I was 7 or 8. Never new his first name? He sure was a champion 'backer spitter though...never seen him miss! Finally gaining his trust & friendship was kind of special,he had so much of that old fashioned, formal charm with some things. Len Cogar

Howdy!
We're kin because Peter,Jacob,& his brothers (I assume this was a joint effort) owned most of 3 counties...Braxton,webster,& 1 other...before,as time went along dwindled to "Cogar Mountain", where, in 1947,a reunoin was held and a book printed-would like to get a copy...should answer a lot of questions around here!

Howdy Betty!
I CAN tell you that the Deans come in when my Dad's best friend Russell Dean married my aunt Ethel. He is deceased about 15 yrs now. Was a great storyteller with one heck of a memory. He loved going for walks in the woods 'sang huntin' too. I work at Ford here in Cleveland with his 2 sons,Wayne & Clel. Don't remember what happened to his daughter...Sandy?...? hope this patches another hole...Len Cogar
