pictures/paintings of Peter Cogar brothers?
I'm curious to know if any of you have pictures of old family paintings of Peter Cogar his 10 brothers in any form or # of subjects? I know that someone has a picture of great, great, great grandaddy the Apache chief,as well...THAT one I particularly desire. All help would be appreciated by my whole family branch...!? E-mail me these if you have them.

Howdy Loretta! I do know that our ancesteral tree started with Peter Cogar in what is now east Germany. (Coger is English part of family). He had 11 brothers, & came to USA on a ship called the "Pink John & William" in 1734,landing in philidelphia. One other brother's name is Jacob,my father's name was Ervin E. Cogar from braxton Co.,one of three our family owned in 1700's...webster was one of the others, all being surrounding counties. Try finding corley WV if you'd like to see what remains of Cogar mountain. Stand on top, face aunt Lilie's house & look right across valley to next mountain...indy driver Kevin Cogin's family came from that one.

Howdy Again! I don't remember too much about aunt Lily, but that she was well educated and mannered. She lived next to the house that grandpa Warrick Built himself, which is the one in the family picture. this was all the way on top of our mountain...there is someone named Cougar in the family who knows all the info on the people in the cemetary & more. Must find him...time may be of the essence! Thanx Len Cogar

HI LEONARD IS THE CEMENTARY YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT COGAR CEMENTARY AN WHERE IS IT LOCATED CAN DO SOME RESEARCH ON THAT LORETTA

The cemetary is located in Corley,WVA. You'd have to maybe use Mapquest on the computer...? I forget the name/# of the highway that goes past the mountain. When you do find it,it's a dirt road(was?)turning off to the left going down south there. You then wind your way up the mountain (please take a 4WD & a rifle!) a couple of miles, going past the old general store & owners house (the store was still open for business when I was a teen). You then go about one more mile up to the top, where you'll find two houses-the one on the left was aunt Lily's,the one on the right,my Dad's...now the home of a momma cougar! the cemetary is to the left of Lily's house. If you watch the woods at the sides of the road closely, you'll see the remains of log cabins, some hollers with old farms intact,& the like...enjoy and please be carefull. This is wild country now. P.S.****** Yes,it is strictly a Cogar cemetary. It goes back many generations, the graves now having markers known by this Cougar person. Len Cogar
