I'd like an E-mail myself. He lists Peter as the son of Jacob, born in 1753. I'm sure this is wrong, as it also lists his surname as Coger, the English side of the family. The German was Cogar as I got it. And Peter & Jacob were brothers as well. Because an old village hall record I saw on rootsweb showed Peter's son Michael being adopted in 1754 "in the presence of a negro wench". That's all the village hall record said, as notations in them were brief at best. So Peter couldn't have fought in the Revolutionary War, being dead long before then. His son Michael perhaps. These old family stories & records are vague at best. Even Pete's grandpa has a couple different stories from what I got. Giving pete's grandpa as Koger or kroger, something like that. Where I was told Kroeger.

I know I answered this someplace to update, but the ship was known as a "pink"- a 2 or 3 masted Dutch-built merchant marine called the "John & William". They came here in 2 waves, Oct 1728 & 1734 according to ship's manifests of the time. The regular Germans are said to have trouble understanding Bavarian German, which seems likely with the two from 1728 being called Koosey or Kooser. I got the story different from Steven Cogar's family history as well. Cogar, my name, rather than English branch known as Coger.

Did you ever get the info entered into your computer? I'm trying to get back into this before I'm too old to...well...you know. I'm currently writing my 2nd book on my home brewing experiences, & want to see if I can find some old family brewer's recipes? It'd be great to include something old like that in my book. I've inserted some family history notations in my history synopsis in my book.
