I am looking for ancestors of Lucy Hale Coffeen, b. abt. 1836, reportedly in Watertown, Jefferson Co., NY. She married Henry Patterson Giltner on 30 Mar 1858 in Taycheedah, Fond du Lac Co., Wisc. They had two boys, Hale A. and Grant P. Henry died in the Civil War in 1865 and Lucy remarried on 20 Nov 1871 to Charles W. Gill. They moved to Codington Co., SD and had a daughter, Lottie.

I cannot find any information about who her parents or siblings are. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

My great grandmother was Mertis Amelia Keller, born in Watertown, NY in the 1870's. In her marriage registration, she listed her parents as John Keller and Mertis Coffin (she was married in LaCrosse, WI). Currently doing research on Coffin family; I will check on your information. If you have any possible connection to my Coffin family, please let me know.

I have not run across Mertis Coffin or John Kelly as yet. I did, however, find that Lucy Hale Coffeen is the daughter of Henry Hale Coffeen and Nancy Lanpher. I've found confirmation in the census records. It appears Lucy was born in Lowville, Lewis Co., NY. Thank you for responding. If I run across anything on your line I will let you know. If I can look up census records for you, please let me know.

I looked in the Coffin book, and did not find Lucy nor Hale Coffin. Check out the township maps of Fon Du Lac County, though, and you will see an H. Coffeen in the NW corner of Taycheda (I may have spelled this incorrectly).
