Response to R. Barnum: My great grand mother's
name was also Ann Coen and we think she was
from Roscommon. She married Thomas O'Connor and
they lived in New York City. I don't know if they
were married in Ireland or NYC. They had 3 children:
John,8/4/1859-9/25/1942 who was my grand father,
and Thomas and Ellen. Any connection?

Thanks for your responce. The info I have on these individuals is from a record writen by my great aunt Elizabeth, who lived to be almost 100, before she died she wrote out a record of the names of her family that she remembered. This record has her grandmother Ann Coen married to Michael Caveny. They had 6 children: John(1849-1928), Catherine(1855-?), Mary(1860-1940), Michael(1862-1947), Thomas(1865-1934) and Ellen(1867-1965). The record mentions the fact that Catherine was a half-sister but I don't have records or any other info on a second marriage for Ann or John.

I don't think there is a connection but surely more research needs to be done.

Thanks for the information. Did Ann and Michael
stay in Ireland, or did they come over to the
States?

Both Ann and Michael were born in Roscommon but imigrated to the US. My record says that perhaps they landed at Boston. They lived Penn, St. Louis, and Auburn Ill. Michael was drafted into the Civil War and worked on the railroad.

Now I have really told you all I know. Hope this helps.

R. Barnum, not sure if you are still around. I think we are related, you indicated that the info you have was written by your great aunt, Elizabeth. Ann was my great great grandmother, her son Thomas was my great grandfather & his daughter Rose Elizabeth Clark nee Caveny was my grandmother. I would appreciate any information you have on this line.
