Code family, County Wexford, IRE to ON, CAN
I have a lot of Code relatives in Canada (my Mother was a Code). They originated from Ireland (county Wexford or Wicklow) to Ontario in the mid-1800's, and family lore is that they were originally Cornish. The family is widely spread now in Canada and beyond (I live in the Caribbean).

Re: Code family, County Wexford, IRE to ON, CAN
My grandfather was a Code. He grew up in Southampton, Ontari Canada. He once said his father's family came from Ireland. Don't know when. My grandfather was born sometime around 1900. His father died when he was young and his mother remarried to a Stewart, I think.

Re: Code family, County Wexford, IRE to ON, CAN
The Code family (originally Codd) did immigrate to Lanark County from Wexford/Wicklow Counties just after the Napoleonic Wars. While there is some connection to Cornwall, our research indicates that the family was originally Norman, arriving in Ireland with Strongbow during the 13th century Norman invasion of Ireland. The name changed from Codd to Code on arrival in Canada. While family members have moved to other places in Canada and the U.S., it is still very much a Lanark County name.
