Have traced my gg grandfather back to his birth in Arberdeen, Scotland in circa 1845. He was married to Emma White, who appears to have been born in England. I have not been able to find George's parents who I believe may be called George Cobban and Elizabeth, of which I do not know her surname. George Cobban and Emma White immigrated to Melbourne, Australia and where married there in 1867. Amongst there children was my g grandfather Alfred Ernest Cobban born 11 November 1884.
If anybody has any ideas where to go or information please email me!

I don't know if you are interested, but I have a Mary Catherine Brodie Cobban, born 6 September 1834 in Ardclach, Nairnshire - she was my husband's great grandmother. Her father was grieve (i.e. farm manager) at Lethen, which is an estate owned by the Brodies, thus her name - she was christened Mary Catherine Brodie, after the Laird's wife, who was a witness at her christening.

Thanks for your message. Any information you have on the Cobban name is much appreciated. Would love to hear more if you have the time. I'm also interested in Scottish history so basically any info you have would interest me! Thanks.

Re: Cobban from Aberdeenshire
I believe I am from the same line of Cobban's as yourself the only info I can give you is that my father was born Anthony William Cobban 24/10/1938 in Rhynie, his father also Anthony William Cobban, I would like to here more about the history you have found out. He once said his uncle did a family history chart and when his mother was given it she riped it up and threw it away. Why? My father also saw another cobban in the newspaper when he was young who looked just like himself and when he phoned the man he wouldn't talk to my dad and was very dismissive.
