Hello.
William H. Cobb had a daughter Marguerite C. Cobb (b. 19 Dec 1907 in Ellis County, Texas). They had a granddaughter who recently asked for some help and that is how I became involved in learning more about the Cobb Family. The only direct primary source record I have found for William H. and Ada Cobb is the 1910 US Census for Midlothian, Ellis County, Texas. After that, both seem to have dropped off the face of the earth. One big clue in tracing his origins was the presence of 20 year old Rush Cobb. born in MS and listed as a brother of William H. in the 1910 Census. I was able to find Rush C. Cobb, age 9 in the 1900 Census for Union County, MS in the household of William Henry Cobb and his wife Margaret Ann Beasley. Believe there was a name recording error and Rush's older brother William H. was mistakenly recorded as Simon D. Cobb, age 18, when the real Simon Douglas Cobb was born in 1867, married and living in his own house. Rush Cobb joined the US Navy in Dallas Texas in 1910 and after serving stints in WWI and WWII, retired in Bremerton, Washington where he died 18 Jan 1957. His obituary was posted to his Findagrave Memorial. It stated that his parents were William Henry Cobb and Margaret Ann Beasley and that he came to Texas with his family in 1902. That was not completely correct, as his mother Margaret died in 1902 and it appears that he came to Texas with his brother William H. while his father and other siblings stayed in MS. Would like very much to share research data with you on this Cobb family and hope that my cousin (Marguerite's granddaughter) can provide me with more information. Marguerite had two daughters with one still living and is about my age. She does not do computers, but perhaps a phone call will provide more information. I can be reached directly by email using the prefix wdgorman and the suffix verizon.net.
