You mentioned Albert Cobb Sr. of Rhode Island in your note. Is that Albert Adams Cobb, who married Mary Russell Candler in 1851, with son Albert Wheelwright Cobb? I've been trying to trace the ancesters of Albert Adams Cobb. Please send email if you can help.

I have the info on the family you seek: John Cobb, b. 12 June 1734 in Dedham, MA. He was a son of John Sarah (Gould) Cobb. He married Huldah Knowlton (I haven't found her parents as yet). Otis Cobb was a son of theirs and father of Otis Parker Cobb (b. 19 Mar. 1801) (I have no further info on Otis P. Cobb now). You I have a common acquaintance in Joe McD. in Wrentham. I can e-mail or snail mail you the family pages of this line if you like later.

Hi--I wonder if I perhaps have a grandson of your John Cobb. I am a direct descendant of John Cobb, born 1839 in Lincoln Co., NC. My family records go back no father, so I don't know his father or mother. He
married Anna Long, born 1843. His son Robert Lee Cobb, was born in NC in 1887, married in Brinkley, Monroe Co., Arkansas, and moved to Illinois. He married Rose Etta Jacobs, daughter of Erastus Jacobs and Mary Jane Snodgrass of Bardolph, Mcdonough Co., IL. His daughter Hazel Garnett Cobb
was my paternal grandmother. This seems to be more than coincidence with your John Cobb. I would love to discuss this family with you, and hope
you see this post.

Colleen,
That is a great stretch you've posted concerning the John Cobb I've researched. There were four (4) Cobb families in the earliest American immigration. There were Cape Cod (Barnstable), Boston, Taunton, and Virginia families (see Philip Cobb's book "History of the Cobb Family"). While Cobbs of the Northeast emigrated westward, I can not tell which family yours came from other than probably the Virginia family. John Cobb's descendants settled in MA, CT, NH, and VT. There is a manuscript on a desc. of John Cobb (a David Ransom Cobb) going to Bourbon Co., Kansas. Can you relate to him ?

Any of the names, John, Damond,Elizabeth William,Roland, or states, kentucky, Texas, Iowa, Mo. Kansas or American Revolution or anyone with Cherokee ancestory, maybe we have some common roots. I go back to 1776, but am lost from there to the migration from Ireland. Please email me at TOWNE@esertlinc.com
