I am looking for info on the family of baseball player Ty Cobb.
He is supposed to be related to my late husband's family, but I have no idea how, except somehow through Cobb.
Back in the 1800's there was a Newton John (or John Newton) Cobb (1824-1904) in St. Lawrence County, NY, marr. to Rosetta Holden. They had five children, one of whom was son George E. COBB (1861-1947), marr. to Cora A. Dana. These were the Cobb grgrgrandfather and grgrandfather, respectively, of my late husband Charles A. Hiscock/Hitchcock. George had 3 children: Alton, Mabel, & Rosetta Cobb, with Mabel having married Archie P. Hiscock in 1908 in Oswegatchie, NY. I do know that the siblings of George E. COBB were: John, Amos, Harvey & Marvin.
If anyone knows anything about any connection of these people to Ty Cobb, please let me know. (I think that the ancestor of these/our COBBs was John Cobb - the grgrgrgrandfather.)

I just want to say "Hi, Cuz"! Ty Cobb's ancestry, as far as I know it, goes back to John Cobb, born around 1830 in Cherokee County, North Carolina. His ancestry goes back to possibly another John Cobb, perhaps from a different state. John Cobb (1830) is the father of William Hershel Cobb (1860 - 1905), who is the father of Tyrus "Ty" Raymond Cobb, born in 1886, and died in 1961. Ty has five children; I think all who have recently died.
