My Dad's book "From Whence Came the Colebanks" shows a Morris Colebank 1855-1924. He lived in Metnamora, Illinois from 1866-1880. His father was James D. Colebank and mother was Mary Morris Colebank. He moved to Kansas in 1880.

Thanks James - I finally figured this out myself but felt a bit silly since he was part of my family. Have you ever run across any mention of a Theodore Colebank b.abt. 1887 in IL married to a Helen b. abt. 1888 in Oklahoma, children: Eldora b. abt. 1919 MN, Theodore b. abt. 1920 MN and James b. 1922 IL. I found them in the 1930 census for Cook Co., IL and have been unable to connect them to our family. I do not find them in the 1920 census anywhere. I have wondered if perhaps Theodore b. abt 1887 might have been born out of wedlock, thus no family claims him but would really like to know for sure. The only other Colebank's in the midwest in the 1880's were from James D. Colebank or from William Jefferson Colebank b. 1827. I enjoyed my contact with your father back in the 1970's. We sent many letters back and forth as we tried to put together the tree for the Colebanks.

No info on a Theodore Colebank. I went to Portland, OR and lo and behold the bellman's name was Paul Colebank. Iasked Father about it and he said he was probably from the "other" James Colebank side. You might be correct in your assumption. Wish I woluld have taken more interest when he was alive. Jim

Most of William Jefferson Colebank's children went to Canada but some came back to the states out your way. They had several Paul's in that family. I suspect Theodore may belong to their family also but not to anyone livings knowledge. So far, he is the Colebank I have found that I cannot connect. If you ever want to contact me directly please do so at jochunt@comcast.net. According to my calculations we are half second cousins once removed. Your greataunt, Clara Nasman Colebank, and I carried on quite a correspondence back in the '70's when I first started my research. Thanks to the fact my grandmother was a saver, I was able to track down a lot of family from old cards and letters she had saved. I started researching before Grandma died but really didn't get any where with it until later. She died in 1968. Clara was the one who gave me contact with your father.
