I am researching Mahonys in the Drimoleague/Caheragh/Dunmanway area of West Cork.
I noticed that you had placed the name Coakley on the Rootsweb Surname List.

I am interested in Coakleys from the RC parish of Dunmanway in Co. Cork. My grandmother had told her son that the Mahonys were related to the Coakleys so I am hoping I might break down one of my brick walls by checking to see if there are any Coakleys who have Mahonys in their family. I have found a Denis Mahony-Ellen Coakley marriage in the RC parish of Dunmanway on February 24, 1838. Witnesses were Daniel Mahony and Thomas Coakley. I believe Denis was the father of Denis, who, in turn, was the father of Michael Mahony. After marrying in Dunmanway, Denis and Ellen raised their family in Leitra. I have not learned yet who their other children were because I need to prove that Denis who married Honora Donovan IS his son.
The Ellen/Nellie Coakley who married Denis Mahony was from Manch, Dunmanway.

I am also interested in the marriage of Timothy Coakley to Johanna Mahony in 1835. She was of Dromilisheen. I have seen this townland recorded other times but can find no one who knows where Dromilisheen was. Witnesses at this marriage in the RC parish of Dunmanway were Jeremiah Mahony and James Coakley.
