I am researching the Coak surname for a friend. Rochelle, I found this obit for a Sanford Coak, but it may not be the one you are looking for. It might give you some clues, though.
On his W W II draft registration he listed his middle name as Elery.

SANFORD E. COAK
Funeral services for Sanford E. Coak, 65, Amanda, Ohio, former resident of Fort Wayne, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in the William H. Loy Funeral Home, Auburn, the Rev. Joseph Ferguson officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery near Auburn.
Mr. Coak died Wednesday morning at a hospital in Lancaster, Ohio. He had been ill about one month.
Born in Marion, he formerly resided in Auburn and Spencerville and was a retired employee of the International Harvester Co. here.
Survivors include the widow, Anna Armstrong Coak; three sons, Marvin, Detroit, Sanford Jr., Columbus, Ohio, and Norman, New Haven; two daughters, Mrs. Dorothea McDonald and Mrs. Gladys McGregor, both of Amanda; four stepdaughters, Mrs. Edith Winslow, Auburn, Mrs. Dorothy Hall, Garrett, Mrs. Marie Hand, Fort Wayne, and Mrs. Jaunita Gronau, Ossian; 12 grandchildren; 16 step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Arthur, Waterloo, Richard, Fort Wayne, and Leidus (sic), Antwerp, Ohio, and four sisters.
Friends will be received at the funeral home.
