My mother was kathleen Coady. her father's name was Stephen and his father was John(he may at times have used the spelling Cody). John decamped for the U.S.in the immediate aftermath of the Fenian Rising of 1867,leaving his family in Ireland.he returned when things cooled down after about 7 years.john was born in West Wicklow and was a printer by trade but may have had some other occupation in the U.S.(generally assumed to have been in NYC).
That is as much as I have.Let me know if there is any relevance to your enquiries.

Sean Ward.

My grandmother Catherine Hortense Coady (Bridwell) is the daughter of Thomas Hoffman Coady and Catherine "Kit" Josefine McCarthy (perhaps called McCarty by some). I believe Kit came from County Carey (?), Ireland around 1885 (ca.). They married in Pana, IL circa 1895 and eventually settled in Paris, Il. I believe Kit died in 1928 and Tom 1952. Tom played on the first Notre Dame football team, as did 2 of his brothers Patrick and Edmond (Ed). That's about all I think I know!!
