I have my family (PHILLIPS) photo album from the 1800's in it I have photos of DORCAS COAD (nee WELLINGTON) and ELIZABETH CHALK (nee COAD). Both direct ancestors, but then I have:
JOHN BOULT COAD
ALSEY COAD
DRUSSILA COAD
Mr. BOULT AND ALICE COAD with baby
LOUSA JANE COAD
JOSEPH B COAD
My ancestors from lived around around Port Isaac for hundreds of years, moved in 1883 to St Austell, Cornwall. My 2xGt grandfather WILLIAM COCK PHILLIPS owned and managed many ships, mainly schooners, the COAD family also owned ships, (I have the names of many of the ships they owned).
The relations in the Photo Album moved to Antwerp, Belgium where they were shipping agents for a period.
I have original post cards of Port Isaac (around 1905/6) sent to members of the COAD family whilst in Antwerp.
Another name that appears on some of the ships records as a share holder is JOHN DAY COAD.
I know JOHN GRIGG COAD was a Captain and ships owner, as a matter of interest one of the Ships was named MARY COAD (Official Number 69456)
Another Ship the MARY ANN (Official Number 19229) was owned by JOE COAD and WILLIAM CHALK (my 3xgt grandfather ~ father-in-law to William Cock Phillips)
If anyone can help piece together the relationships of the above COADs I would much appreciate it.
Kindest Regards
JOHN PHILLIPS
