Mostly Coachman. I descend from John James Simons and Mary Lynch Coachman's son Henry James. I believe you and I corresponded some years ago. My previous married name was Erskine.

I really haven't done much research on Tilney and Alice but the other night I was reading various web sites and it just seemed obvious that there had to be a connection between her and Sir John. They were both part of the early settlers in Barbados. Sir John moved to South Carolina in 1671, Tilney and Alice followed in the late 1690s or early 1700s. Then I found a reference (RootsWeb WorldConnect - Jehan Dupot Descendents) that Gov. James Moore (who we know married one of Sir John's daughters) referred to Tilney as his brother-in-law in some document. I assume the reference is in his will but I haven't been able to find a copy of it.

Anyway, it certainly seems that there should be a connection. I'm not sure that their relative ages support that Alice was his daughter but, perhaps, she was his granddaughter. Of course, this is all mere speculation, just food for thought and research.
