Dear Michelle,
A branch of the Coachman family left Georgetown, SC for Decatur County in abt 1860 I will be glad to help if I can. How far back can you go? Is Coachman Rambo the name you are looking for or is it Rambo Coachman?

Thanks for the reply. Coachman and Rambo are both surnames. Do you have any slave info on the Coachmans that moved to Decatur county

I don't have much, I'm afraid. In the diary of James Joseph Coachman he says, "On the 1st of November he left Georgetown, SC with his family consisting of wife, four children his nephew Hugh, Miss Church and fifty-five negros and arrived in Fowlstown on the sixth of December 1841." Fowlstown was then Decatur County. I'm sorry that he did not list the names of the negros and I don't think the original Bible exist - or if it does it is possibly in Brazil as the eldest son of James Joseph relocated there after the Civil War. Wish I could be of more help. If you can think of anything let me know I will keep an eye out for Rambo.

Hi thank you for responding. Most don't like to talk about the past. There is nothing we can do about the past. I am almost positive this is the same set of families. My family comes from the Decatur and Seminole area. In our family tree we can go back to Adam Rambo and Rosetta Coachman. They had 3 children when slavery ended. One of which is name Kenny and he was my Great grandfather's father. Any info you come across would be greatly appreciated.
