Sorry this is so long. I have yet to figure out GEDCOM files and they are the only attachements accepted here. I am interested in Francis N. Clymo b. April 1854-1855 Cornwall, England m.31 May 1874 in Sweetland, Nevada Co, CA to Elizabeth Benjamin b. June 1857 in New York. Both of Francis (Frank’s) parents were born in Cornwall. Elizabeth Benjamin’s parents born in Ireland. Francis had an older brother William Clymo possible b. 1848.
Francis came it US in 1879 according to 1900 census. (From my mom’s notes; There is an affidavit o f William Clymo that Deborah’s parents consented to the marriage as she was only 17.

Francis and Elizabeth Clymo children born in Sweetland or Bridgeport twn, Nevada Co,CA.
1. Edward Nicholas Clymo b 1 Mar 1875, (m Ellen Elizabeth Bevan b. Sebastopol, Nevada Co, CA 9 Oct 1878; Ellen Bevan’s parents both from Wales) 28 Aug 1898, d. Jan 1949. (my great-grandparents)
2. Margaret (Madge) Clymo b. 8 Mar 1877 (m. Ebenezer Kieffer) d. 2 Mar 1962 Grass Valley, Nevada Co, Ca.
3. Grace S Clymo b. March 1881 (m. Albert Moser)
4. Dora b. Dec 1883 (m. Raymond Currier) d. Spokane, Spokane Co, WA
5. Herbert Francis Clymo b. Mar 1882 (m. Flora M. Rosendale, they were divorced somewhere along the line and Flora still alive in 2 Mar 1962 in Benecia? CA.
6. Alta b. May 1891. From my mom’s notes looks like she died at age 22 in Nevada City, Nevada Co, Ca and is buried in the Pinegrove Cemetery.

From this I will come down my line; This is sketchy as I still have to get all of my mom’s genealogy work here so I can put it online.

That gives you and idea who we are. If anyone has any information on Francis N. or William Clymo I would like to hear from you. I would like to find where they were born in Cornwall and their parents etc. As an addition to this message, I am adding material I received that looks like this Francis Clymo and back many generations. I am still checking on this information but if it is right then I am now back to looking before 1791. If any of this information matches what any of you might have I will enjoy hearing from you.

Thank you,
Marilyn (Brown) Cathers

Not sure what relationship Francis N. Clymo would be to me but due to some recent breakthroughs in my genealogy research I am thinking he is related.

My great grandfather was named James Stevens. His death record states that his mother's maiden name was Clemo. He died in Wisconsin, USA . His birth record, provided by another researcher, states that his father's name is John Michael Stephens and his mother's maiden name was Mary Clymo. There seem to be several Mary's mentioned in your genealogy. I wonder how the John M. Stephens age 8, then 18 is related in your genealogy?

Just noticed your postings of the past few years relating to Francis N. Clymo from Cornwall, England. Turns out he was my great grandfather and I recently obtained copies of the original marriage license for he and Deborah Benjamin.
A few minor corrections to your data. First, the marriage license issued on May 30th, 1874 (they were married the next day on May 31, 1874 in Sweetland, Nevada County, California) indicates Francis was 22 years old (Deborah was 17 and William Clymo submitted an affidavit indicating Deborah's parents consented to the marriage). Accordingly, he was either born in 1852, not 1854, or the clerk got the age wrong on the certificate. I tend to believe the former. The license does indicate he was born in Cornwall as were his parents and that Deborah was born in the USofA and her parents were born in Ireland.
Second, your posting on RootsWeb.com indicating migration to the US in 1871 must be correct and the 1879 date on your posting on Ancestry.com is probably a typo?
Lastly, their son Herbert (the 5th child) and his wife Flora (Rosendale) most certainly were not divorced! (your Ancestry.com posting) Herbert (my paternal grandfather) lived in Benicia, California with Flora until his death in 1942 from uremic poisoning. Medicine was a bit more primitive then.

Your research has been a gold mine for my limited interest in my ancestry. I hope you are still doing it and have accomplished your goals.

Thanks for all your work

Thank you for responding to my posts. Yes I know Flora and Herbert were not divorced. I must have made an error when submitting my info. I will go back and check and correct it. I have Francis birth certificate from Cornwall showing Francis was born in 1854. I have marriage licenses for our Clymo's for the following besides the one you mentioned. Francis's 1854 father and mother. Francis and Grace Nicholas married 1840. Nicholas Clymo and Mary Cock in 1919 who were Francis 1854 grand parents. And the last one I have to date is 1791 marriage of Franis Clemo and Jane Harris our Francis's great grand parents. These are original photo copies from the registers if you would like copies I will scan and send to you for your files. I have other info that I have not had time to add to the family tree.

Wow, you sure replied quickly!! Do you have a copy of the marriage license I mentioned in my previous response? If so, I guess the clerk did make a mistake. I would love to have copies of the birth ceritificates and other information you note in your response. My e-mail is craigclymo@aol.com. Please let me know if I can re-imburse you for any costs. Thanks for the good work.

Surnames: Clymo, Stephens, Stevens, Chenhall, Eddy,
So glad I found your information. I am descended from Nicholas Clymo through his daughter Mary. Mary married John Michael Stephens. One of their children(son John Michael) appears to have been reared by Mary's parents. Their son James immigrated to Upper Peninsula, Calumet, Michigan. He married Caroline Chenhall, daughter of Samuel Chenhall and Elizabeth Jane Eddy.

I gained a few more details about my own line from a reply that was posted to you about your Francis. I guess we are extremely distant cousins.

trying to place my Louisa (possilby Mary Louisa) born England, June 1834 or 1837, most likely Cornwall/Devon area.
Has been picked up on one of her sons' marriage certificate as Clemow. She would have left England c. 1849/50. Hoping to place her in her childhood family.....supposedly had one and possibly a half brother, one named William. any chance
you might have a straggler out there?
