My 4G grandfather was Samuel Clymer, born 6-4-1785, died 8-15-1862. Lived most (if not all) of his life in Fredericksburg, Lebanon County, PA. Married Catherine Boehney, 1809.

Samuel's daughter Catherine, b. 12-10-1809, married Jacob Finkel and moved to Centre County PA.

I would like to make contact with other researchers in this particular Clymer family.

Jim, I'm also a descendant of Samuel Clymer and Catherine Behney. Samuel's son David B. Clymer b. 1831 d. 1912 is my direct line down. David married a Elizabeth Behney (who maybe is a 'cousin' to him?). David Elizabeth had a daughter Emma Amelia Clymer and she married a John Tobias in Jonestown, Pa. Swatara Twp. I have a copy of Samuel's will that lists a deceased brother Joseph Clymer. Also, my David Clymer was quite a "man about town", he disappears from the census in 1880 as it lists his wife as single with daughter Ellen living with her. But David ends up in Erie Co. in 1912. It's quite a mystery to me. There's more but I won't go into it now. I've searched for a few years and we aren't descendant from George the signer--I'm pretty certain on that. Clymer was spelled in church records Kleimer, which is German. Still haven't gotten back to who the pioneer is. Please e-mail at Mariepag@aol.com. Thanks, Connie

I have found a Joseph CLYMER as owner of land of a hotel in North Annville twp, Lebanon co which I am researching. Joseph obtained the patent for about 17A of land here in 1829; the owner is listed as "Joseph GLIMES". I know this is the same since a deed i have seen lists the exact Patent Book reference. In 1853 Joseph CLYMER's executors sold the property to Amose DEININGER. Because of the proximity to Jonestown/Fredericksburg my feeling this Joseph CLYMER is related to the Samuel CLYMER, probably brothers.
I'm trying to determine the age of the building on this land, which I feel does go back to the building of the Union Canal. Mention is made of a Mrs. JEFFERIES and her lodging place in an 1827 diary found in Watson's "Annals of Philadelphia".
If anyone has more info on this Joseph CLYMER and a hotel on his property I'd appreciate hearing from you. Thanks!

I think I have married into this line of Clymers... Catherine and Samuel=> David Bertram Clymer (+ Sarah Lentz) => David Bertram Clymer (+ Sarah Aungst) => Harvey (+Alice) => Fredric "Fritz" (=Helen) => Fredric "Ric" (+Becky) => Fredric Christian Clymer (Christian, my husband)

Sound right? This is as far back as I have. Anything you could share would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to e-mail me!

George w. Clymer was not our line. He is the signer of the Declaration of Independence and is of English descent. The Clymers of Lebanon co. Pa. were of German descent and spelled their name many ways i.e. Kleimer, Klimer, Cleimer

David B. Clymer of Lebanon Co. and Jonestown, Pa. was married to Elizabeth Behney. He had a child to Sarah Lentz but no records are found of their marriage only to Elizabeth Behney.
