Greetings to all

I have currently some Clydesdales in my family tree, being my grandmother's maiden name.
They all came from Lanarkshire,
Matthew Clydesdale married Agnes Davidson on 11 June 1837 in East Kilbride (spelling) and had 5 known children, all in East Kilbride in Lanarkshire.

Anybody researching this family is quite welcome to contact me via email
Matthew's parents are matthew Clydesdale and Margaret Smillie, but have not found where they are from

Hi, I am interested in the Clydesdale family. I have Mathew Clydesdale with his five children as well. Do you have anything further on this line? I have not been able to connect him to any of the other Clydesdales. Looking forward to hearing from you and thanks in advance for any help you might give me. Susie

I indeed have plenty of information regarding this family, one Matthew Davidson Clydesdale is my great-great Grandfather, born in 24 March 1838, in East Kilbride, Lanarkshire, Scotland.

Which of the Clydesdales are your interests?

He married Isabella Aitken, while in New Zealand (His second wife) while he was a widower, meaning he had a previous wife. I also have information regarding his brothers and sisters.

Thanks, Glen L Madigan

My husband's great great grandmother was Mary Clydesdale from Co. Down, Ireland (b. abt 1837). Her father, James, was said to have been born in Scotland. In trying to discover more about him I have collected as much about the various Clydesdales as I can and have developed a rather large file. I hope to be able to fit as many pieces of the puzzle together as I can. If you are willing to share your line, perhaps we can help each other. Susie

I'm sorry, I don't have any information on the Hugh Clydesdale that m. Annie McLachlan on Nov. 11 1887. I do have two possibilities, however:

Hugh Clydesdale b. Feb 1, 1866, Central District, Glasgow
Hugh Clydesdale b. Jul 26, 1858, Calton, Glasgow

If either of these proves to be your Hugh, let me know as I have further information on the families.

Good luck.

Susie

Feb. 1, 1866 as birth date for Hugh Clydesdale looks interesting to me especially the link with Annie McLachlan. Please reply via E.Mail if its convenient and of course on the web in case anyone else is interested. Thanks a bundle.

Below is the information on Hugh Clydesdale b. 1866. The b. dates of the parents are suspicious. Perhaps it was a typo. I think I need to double check the 1881 British Census.

Please let me know if you make a connection. I am still trying to connect my Irish Clydesdales to Scotland. I know the connection is there, I just have yet to discover it.

John Clydesdale b. abt 1851 (? not realistic considering the b dates of the children), Ireland, and Mary McJuray (McJurey, Majurey, McInray) b. abt 1851 (? not realistic considering the b dates of the children), Ireland
ch:
Thomas Clydesdale b. abt 1862, Inch, Wigtown (1881 British Census), b. Aug 24, 1861, Inch, Wigtown (IGI 6035516)
Robert Clydesdale b. Jun 21 1863, Stranraer, Wigtown (IGI 6035516)
Hugh Clydesdale b. Feb 1, 1866, Central District, Glasgow (IGI 6035516)
John Clydesdale b. abt 1868, Glasgow, Lanark (1881 British Census), b. Feb 5, 1868, Central District, Glasgow (IGI 6035516)
William Clydesdale b. abt 1871, Glasgow, Lanark (1881 British Census), b. Jun 28, 1870, Central District, Glasgow (IGI 6035516)

If this is the right Hugh Clydesdale I was not aware of all the Brothers. iIn anycase your references are the same as mine.IGI6035516. I thought that this reference was Church of the Latter Day Saints.

I think I told you that My Grandfather Hugh Clydesdale was Married to Annie McLachlan and my other Grandfather Titus Lowe was married to Helen McLachlan. they were Sisters. I don't know if this matters but My Father, also Titus Lowe married Helen McLachlan Clydesdale making them first cousins.I don't know if this is of any help.

I have not tried the Irish Records I will and if any luck willl let you know.

Hugh C. Lowe

Hi,
The IGI is indeed the Latter Day Saints reference number. I also found the family in the British Census. Please keep in touch and let me know if you make a connection. Good luck to you.
